Hi Dani27..........
The best book I ever read was, (The Green Mile). I saw the movie to, and it was exactly like the book. Most books are better then the movie, but not in this case. Marilyn :o)

I think it was King or Spielberg, I'm not sure. Since I liked it so much, you would think I'd know that!! LOL

I saw The Green Mile first, but surprisingly, I read it afterward, and that is a bit strange because I have NEVER read Stephen King until then. Yet, I found it closely related to the actual film and I really wanted to see the motivations and what certain characters were thinking about at a particular time. I found it a great addition to the movie, but where I couldn't actually watch the scene where they execute the man, I stomached it in the book more.

I'm torn between John Cheever's "Falconer" and Fyodor Dostoevsky's "Crime and Punishment".

As a child, my favorite book was CHARLOTTE'S WEB. As an adult, my favorite book has been MADAME BOVARY.

For me this is so hard to say, I mean there were so many books, that I read and at the time were my favorite.
Some were spiritual others just fun, I don't know that I could pick one best book ever.
So I guess if I had to say, I would say a book titled Bonnie [I can't remember the author though still remember some of the dialog and passages from book]
It is the best book ever because it was the first book I read that got me addicted to reading, I liked reading etc, but when I was 9 years old I became hooked on reading because I enjoyed this work of fiction so much, enjoyed the whole idea of story telling so much, and could escape to this world of make believe.
I didn't know that was what was happening to me as I read this book and became lost in the characters and story. But it was.
So I suppose this is the best book ever, not because the story was all that great, but because it was the one that truly introduced me to the many worlds of and in reading and books.
Books that stand out as markers for me would be
East of Eden by Steinbech
Spirit Song the story of No Eyes by Mary Summer Rain
Rolling Thunder by Doug Boyd
Shadow Touch by Marjorie M Liu
Of Mice and Men by Steinbech
the Sackettes by Louis L'Amour
All are equally the best I have read for different reasons.

I have read so many wondeful books it is hard to narrow it down to one best book! I loved Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck, it was very moving. I also loved Lord of The Flies, The Scarlett Letter, East of Eden, EVERY Jodi Picoult book, and so many more!

I have only read it twice but it is a book I think about more than any other and that is Don Quixote by Cervantes.
I have only read it in English translation but the it is so funny and sad and thought provoking. It is not just a single story, there is the original tale of Don Quixote and Sancho Panza and a sequel which continues their adventures. Also there are stories within the story, of knights and maidens, lovers and rogues.
Although it was written 5 centuries ago, there is much to be found in it which is relevant to life today.

Well the best book I remember now is "The Magus" by John Fowles...It is truly an exciting book...it doesn't make you sleepy, and you'll never throw it away...
I don't recommend it to the kids, though...there are some things there that could manipulate a fragile mind!
