i've been wondering how many steps it takes to walk around the earth and i learned that the earth's circumference is 40,008km. is this true? and if so, how many steps do you think it takes to walk around the earth?

Most of the earth's surface is covered with water and you can only walk on land, so you would have to sail most of the way round. It would also depend on whether you walked Pole to Pole or around the Equator. Either way, it would be very difficult walking in extreme heat or extreme cold. Or am I missing the point?

We will make some assumptions: :) 1. We consider we have bridges over waters 2. We consider we walk a straight line 3. It doesn't matter the time it takes us, only the distance. Nice observation!

well i was thinking equator-wise.. i'm planning to buy a pedometer, count all the steps everyday and try to reach the number of steps required to circle the earth.. lol..

Well, if we consider a normal human step of 0.9 meters, the result is at follows: 40 008 km = 40 008 000 m = x = 40 008 000 / 0.9 = x = 44 453 333 . 3333333333 (x is the number of steps) Have a nice journey! :)

hmm, i think i can do that.. the healthy no. of steps a day is 10,000 right? i'm 21 now, so assuming i make 10thou steps a day for 365days, then in it'll take me about 13 years, give or take.. bet i'll still be mighty healthy by that time, lol..

i did some computation of my own and it turns out that since i do smaller steps than you, mine's just 0.55meters per step.. but i'm willing to do as much as it takes, lol.. hope you guys will be with me through my journey! i'll be starting march4! walk-a-ton.blogspot.com see you there!
