I've Already Got The Cold Sweats

Oh my gosh, I'm already going through withdrawals. Next week I have to attend a mandatory workshop from 8-4:30p all week long. NOOOOOOOO!!!! This means no mylot until I get home, have fixed dinner, have my child in bed and then only if I can wrestle the computer out of the grip of my boyfriend. Its going to be hard to stay focused wondering what all my mylot friends are doing. LOL. Well, maybe its not quite that serious, but I am going to miss being here next week. Have you ever been away from home and didn't have access to a computer, or perhaps your internet connection wasn't working or for whatever reason you couldn't access your email and mylot? Did you feel that maybe you were just a little bit addicted to mylot? Now for all of those who want to tell me that its not that serious, its ok. I don't need therapy. I know I won't die without it. This is more tongue in cheek than anything else.

My gosh we're going to miss you. Although for me your morning is my afternoon so I guess that you will be hitting the keys as I head off to bed. I haven't been on myLot for long enough to really have had a down time yet. I am taking my wife to a meeting tomorrow PM and I have wondered what I will do for the 3 hours that I shall be waiting about. I don't have portable myLot. I think that having withdrawal symptoms for 3 hours that have not yet happened is pretty serious! Anyway, I hope that your workshop is good - does this mean that you got the job. I do hope so. We'll all still be here to chat when you get back. Take care and good luck.

Thanks, you guys are the best. No I didn't get the job, its to help me with interview skills, resume that kind of stuff, but my employment specialist seems to think it will help quite a bit. I'll really miss you guys too, but its nice you'll be there when I get back.

Thats ok, I figure I can still post discussions at night, I just won't be able to respond to comments I receive as quickly as I usually do.

Yes, I know just what you mean as when we are traveling I take a break from myLot and e-mail and all that good stuff, but then in the hotel lobby when checking in I catch myself making furtive glances toward the guest computers, especially if they appear to be online. It is important, though to take a break once in a while, even from a good thing.

I hear what you are saying, but it doesn't make it any less difficult. LOL. I'll be thinking about it the whole time I'm gone.

In the last few weeks I have had a couple of occasions where I have not been able to access the computer, the first occasion was a power cut and it was off for about 2 hours or so, then my internet provider went down and I was unable to get on the computer for around an hour or so. I tell you what, it is such a horrible feeling not being able to get on it. I was not a member of mylot at the time so I could not say I missed this, but I missed not being able to access all the other things I normally do online. I have actually over the last couple of weeks cut down how much time I spend on the computer because some days the amount of time i spend on it is ridiculous!

I know my boyfriend is always getting on me for the time I spend on the internet, but I can't help myself, I love it. And tell you what since he joined mylot, he's been spending a whole lot more time on here himself than he ever did before. LOL.

Ohmygoodness, if I lost my internet connection for any length of time, you may as well just shoot me and get it over with. I was stuck with dialup for several weeks when I first moved to Ohio, and it was crappy dialup at best. I do not want to re-live that experience! I just joined myLot last Monday but have already made a place here, so yea, I'd be pretty miserable if I had to be away for a while. Kat, will you have a cell phone with you? Want I should text you with highlights throughout the day? : )

You are so funny. No I don't think they'll allow me to have a cell phone to get mylot updates. Thanks for the giggle though.

Have no fear Kbourgerie! I have been hard at work developing a patch for just this type of situation. You can be my first test subject! There may be some side effects, but after you tell me what they are, I can fix them for our next friend who will be going into shock and withdrawal from missing all their wonderful cyber-buddies here. I will overnight it to you!

i have been here for just about a year and even now, i hate to be off mylot for any length of time...last dec i was in the hospital for 4 days and it was so hard to be off of mylot! the first thing that i did when i got home was check my facebook acct and check mylot! (which prompted the discussion of 'do you hate being away from mylot?'!!!!

I definitely get withdrawals if I can't get access to the internet because its down, or I'm travelling or whatever. Luckily I have a husband who is an IT geek and fixes everything that goes wrong with out laptop or wireless network. I take my laptop with me when I travel unless my family already has one or a desktop that I can have access too. Sad but true!

I just don't think they'll allow me to have one in this workshop, darn it. The good news is I learned that I'll earn two college credits for attending just for the week. Not too bad.

Nooooo What will we do without you sweety? I hope that your course goes very well and don't worry - your boyfriend won't stand a chance of keeping the computer off of you when you haven't had a chance to be on mylot all day - the addiction is stronger than he could hope to be! lol I have been unable to access and believe me it wasn't a pretty sight! lol xxx

Oh yes, mylot is addictive. For me there is little doubt. My advice breathe! You will be fine. Explain to your boyfriend the importance of mylotting. lol You will be missed and we will see you after your workshop. Good luck with it. At least you know your boyfriend will keep the keyboard warm til you can get here!

sometimes i feel that way about the computer...i don't think it is so much as an addiction for me as it is just my need to mellow out and be alone...some people watch tv or take showers or smoke or drink whiskey...i just like to spend about an hour every day with my computer. It's not completely useless...i meet cool people, learn interesting things...hopefully i will finish developing my websites soon too...

I worked on a website for quite sometime. Then I had to reformat my computer and lost everything I had done. Figures. And since then haven't had the energy to start it again. Perhaps I should

hi I am so surprised at how much I have become addicted to posting seeing I am really new.Ifind so many people who have the same questions. ideas. problems and so on that Ihave myself and I am one of the older people on here. so quess age does not matter so much here. I was let go. nice way of saying fired. because I was near eighty altho my super said I did a better job than most of the younger people. I worked in a library just shelving books but it was a necessary and decent job and the staff became my friends so I miss them very much.So now I have become a computer addict and a mylot addict. I hate it when my computer is down but like you said I wont die from it.

I'm sorry you lost your job. I am kind of having the same problem finding employment because of my age. All the other candidates are always so much younger than I. Well I hope that you can find your niche here. There are alot of wonderful people and its really easy to get addicted, as indicated by this post.
