Do You Have To Share Your Computer With Someone Else?

Do you have to share your computer with other family members? There are three of us that use our computer. For the most part I get it during the day while my son is at school and my boyfriend is at work. They divide the evening hours if they can pry the mouse out of my hand. Then when they go to bed, then I am back viciously attacking the keyboard. Do you have to share your computer and how do you divide your time?

Luckily we have two laptops, my one and my husbands work one. That is usually free after school if my son wants to use it. Sometimes he uses mine if I am not using it, but mostly he uses his fathers laptop. When he goes on business trips, then he takes his laptop and my son and I use my one :)

It might just cost you a bit I think. I don't know much about things like that but I would be doing the same too and avoiding it altogether. The three of us fight over our tv. We have two but the one in our bedroom only has basic cable and doesn't have all the channels we usually watch in the living room. I record the programs i want to watch and leave it to the other two to fight over. My son usually wins though LOL

Gosh this makes me want to get my laptop fixed more than ever. The ethernet port on it isn't working for some reason. I'm procrastinating about taking it in because I"m not sure how much it will cost.

laptop - A laptop computer is one of the best inventions in the world.
I am one of the lucky ones I guess. I have my very own laptop computer. I bought it about a year ago. I had to share for a number of years with my husband and stepson. That was awful because they were very hoggish with the computer. I would have to beg for time. I liked to just chill and look around. I didn't have a set destination. The kid would be hanging over my shoulder, are you done yet? My laptop was the best gift I ever gave to myself.

My husband gets jealous of the time I spend on here. He half-joking asks if I have an on-line boyfriend. I am not familiar with ethernet. Is it like wireless?

I think the best gift I could give myself is to have the ethernet connection on my laptop fixed so I don't have to share anymore either. But then again, they'd probably never see me if that happened. LOL.

We are fortunate to have 2 computers so we rarely end up fighting over them. I consider us lucky.

We have two computers too, but unfortunately something is wrong with the ethernet connection on my laptop so I can only use it for dial-up and who wants to do that?

I share my computer with 3 people. I mainly get it at night when my boyfriend is sleeping. The other 2 people do not really like to get on the computer. During the day when my boyfriend is on I might get on for about 15 minutes if I need to or he gets bored. I don't really mind sharing the computer. I have nothing to complain about it is just a computer.

Thankfully I don't have to share my laptop with anyone else. But even when I did use the family desktop, I didn't share it with anyone either. Not because I'm greedy, but because they rarely ever wanted it.

I am so glad that i do not need to share my laptop to anyone... i am the only one in the office... so i get to use it all day... and i don't bring it at home since there is no internet connection there... but just last night... i started fidgeting my old laptop... seem like there is hope in getting it running again... when that happens... i will be able to get internet connection... but since my husband is home... i would have to share it with him... But then... not for a long time... since he will be leaving for abroad... so i get to use the laptop all by myself... nice isn't it...

Yes it is nice, but it would drive me nuts not to be able to use the computer at night. Hope you get your home computer fixed soon.

We used to. We had 2 computers, both in our bedroom. My husband is on the most during the day and night. I used the 2nd at night and on weekends. The kids took turns using whichever computer was free, and used daddy's on nights he was out. This year, since the kids are needing the computer for school work more often, we decided to use our tax refund and bought 3 new computers. 1 for mommy, 1 for daddy and 1 for my 10 year old daughter. My oldest daughter and young son (they share a room) got the better of our old computers. This has alleviated the fighting for time online! -Tink

Hi k, I used to have to share with my husband. And the wonderful man gave me a new computer for Christmas this last year. It is so much nicer this way. A lot of the times he is playing a war game, and I'm either downloading music or am here or some other thing. The best thing about it is that it is not bogged down with both of our files now. B

I also share computer with my brother. But most of the time I will be using the computer. We do not keep time restriction. When the computer is free I use it.

I have a girl friend that only has 1 computer in her family. Her mother using the computer usally 1 hour per day and shares the computer with her sister. They usally have set times for my girl friend and her sister. That works well. They dont fight over the computer MUCH they just get of when time is up. Usally when they miss there go due to working late or partys on weekends. They share with what time they have. YAY no fights

In my house, its a constant battle. Wait until this week, when I don't have a chance to use it during the day. I'll be gone to a workshop so all of us will want to be on it in the evenings. LOL.

Thankfully no. Each one of us has their own PC. The only person who ever goes without because he gets the handmedowns is my 9 year old. Then I occasionally have to share with him, but I don't mind since most of his PC time is when I am doing something else anyway.

I am so lucky that I don't have to share computer with others, be it at home or at work. I used to be using a desktop 1 year ago in the company. But the company I worked for, had implemented a PC refreshment project last year, to allow more than 80% of employee to use laptop, to achieve higher efficiency (you can still work at home or while in the meeting). Since then I was using a laptop which I could use it for work in the company or use it for leisure purpose while at home. But when I go back to home town, I need to share internet connection with my parents. They have a desktop at home too, but only one internet connection. My mum is planning to buy a wireless router, so that we could access the internet at the same time.

Hi there, most of the times I don’t have to share my computer with anybody unless my son is back to home during his weekend holiday once in a while. Occasionally my referrals will use my computer when they visit me. My elder brother who is living nearby will share my computer if his desktop has sent for repairing.

hi kbourgerie. I have to share my PC with my sister. We don't have problems with dividing time of using computer. Somehow we are always able to come to an understanding in this case:). If one of us has something imporntant to do with the help of our PC, this one 'gets' it. If noone has serious problems to fix with the help of our PC, we share time half by half. We would like to have separate computers, of course. But we don't have money to buy second one. And it is not a big deal for us to share one computer. take care, jazgottt.
