Where do you get stock photos?

Zebra Head - I like to take my own pictures when I can, but finding a Zebra to photograph would be tough! One of my favorite stock photo sites is http://www.morguefile.com/ which is where this picture is from.

I recently discovered a neat little site called Morgue File http://www.morguefile.com/ where you can download free photos for commercial and non commercial user. I try to take my own pictures for things as much as I can, but sometimes its tough. Where do you get stock photos from? Any good sites to reccommend?

I usually http://www.sxc.hu/ to find my stock photos. If you are a member of DeviantArt, they have a lot of great stock photographs available, the only catch is that you need to be a member to use them and you are only supposed to use them on the site (usually, depending on the "rules" of the person who has posted the image).

I have several links of places to buy royalty free stock images listed on my website: http://lindsaydean.com/buystock.html You can get most images for $1 per image or less! Lots of the sites even offer free images!

About Morguefile.com, as long as you don't redistribute the photos "as is", their policy is very liberal. If you alter them enough, or incorporate them into your own designs, you can even use them commercially. You can't sell them as prints or posters, but you could use them (altered slightly) for greeting cards, calendars, collages, mugs, etc There are no restrictions on using the photos on websites, blogs, etc, however, you should never post morguefile images on photo sharing sites like Flickr. It's always appreciated if you contact the photographer, and give proper credit (though it's not required). Also, if you use an image, don't credit yourself as the photographer. I found one of my photos on a PS website, and the artist had the photo labeled as his own. I contacted him, and he changed it.
