My Broadband service provider is cheating me.

Yes they are cheating me big time. I ahve taken the braodband connection from the Government telephone company in India. Its BSNL.
I have atken the home plan for rs 250 each month. When i contacted to take the connection, they told me it has 2 GB free download each month.
Till date it was Ok.
This month they have sent the bill with BB usage charge of 650 Rs.
I am amazed at it. I rarely do download upload at home. I login also very rarely at home.
Today my father has made a big official concerned with it.
They have told just rubbish things to my father.
They have told, no its only 1 GB free.
Now the other lies.
They say if you just say open google page and keep it opened for 3 hours you will have huge download of data.
I just can't digest this. Now when they have provided a phone number. I aclled that number and the cell phone of the concerned person is with other person. Just rubbish.
That person gave me 2 land line numbers. till now i have say dialled those numbers nearly 50 times. Either no body is taking the call or it is engaged.
I just hate government services in my country.
Now I am victim to this.

Subha12, I think the download quota for Rs. 250/- plan is 1 GB only. For Rs. 500/- Plan, which I have, is 2.5 GB. They cannot give 2 GB for 250/- and only 2.5 GB for double the plan which is Rs. 500/-. More and above the eligible quota, the extra usage is charged at some rate.

You are right. I was using BSNL's broadband. I was paying Rs.750/- per month for the past 1 year. Suddenly one fine monring I received a bill for Rs.20,000/-. I got the service disconnected and switched over to AirTel which has unlimited use and unlimited download.

Hi subha,
i think you should check your modem properly. There must be any internal problem. i suggestion that it is better to change to another 250 plan broadband. Initially 3500 rupees modem. Plug modem. We can use it anywhere in India.

Hi sweetie, I don't know what to say to you about this as I don't know how it works out there. I pay £9.99 a month for a download speed of about 8Mb (I don't even know what that means). I've never been charged any additional money for going over any downloads and my PC is on 24 hours a day and night as I don't like turning the PC on and off (as my colleagues - all IT professionals) said it shortens the life of your PC if you turn it off and on all the time. I use the internet for 4 or 5 hours in the evening sometimes and I upload 100s of photos every other week to my online albums, so I don't know how your ISP is doing this. I would write a letter of complaint and send it to them. At least that way you can't get the runaround like you are getting with these phone calls. When I had a problem with my ISP a few months ago, I sent an email complaint and copied it in to their managing director saying that I might just be one small customer to them but I expected better treatment as an individual and the end result was that a high level complaints officer dealt with my case and I also got a cheque for £20 as compensation (which I wasn't expecting) - I was just happy that it all got resolved...

I don't think that the officials has given wrong information. Earlier me too was using the Rs250/ scheme, but for usages more than 1 GB, you have to pay ninety paise for every additional one MB that you use.
This means the bill you got would be for an usage of around 1.6 GB.. That is for the Extra 0.6 GB you paid the excess of Rs 350/-
Hence i advice you to switch over to Scheme of 900 plus where you can get unlimited upload and download..
I hope that you would have rectified the problem by now. If you find time please drop your comment.
