I'm not sure if anyone else has heard about this, but it was on the news recently. George Bush plans on leaving his legacy behind in a new library in the Southern Methodist University, which is on a Dallas campus in Texas.
As expected, this news was met with protests from a whole lot of people in Dallas and on the Univerity. This is mostly because they do not want their school to be associated with George Bush. The $200 million they have to raise (or will this be paid in tax dollars?) is a very steep price to pay. What do you all think about this?
If anyone is interested, FDR built a $60 million library, but he used his own personal money to build that one, not the tax payers' money.

It's customary and only a mindless hatemonger would question a former president getting a library.
Clinton got one and all it is is a place to hide anything and everything to do with his administration... including his wife's activities.
It's supposed to be public, but to date they have honored only 23 of the almost 400 Freedom of Information Act requests. The records were supposed to become public in 2006.
If the educated idiots who make up Southern Methodist University have a problem with Prs. Bush, that's their right, but it only shows their complete lack of historic perspective.

Sorry, I meant to say, if the educated idiots have a problem with Prs. Bush having a legacy library that's their right, but it only shows their complete lack of historic perspective.
Of course, having a problem with a president has little to nothing to do with "historic perspective".

One of the reasons SMU was chosen as the site for Bush's Presidential Library is because of Bush friend, oil man Ray Hunt who has donated huge sums to both George W. Bush and his father's Presidential campaigns. Hunt has given $35 million to the school to buy some of the land for the library. Hunt has been rewarded for his generosity to the Bush family by a seat on the President's Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board, a panel of outside elders who oversee whether the commander in chief is getting good advice from the intel community. Hunt Oil recently announced that, after secret negotiations, it had struck a deal with leaders in the country's Kurdish-controlled north to explore for oil in the Dahuk region near the Turkish border. This deal is very controversial and I started a discussion about it some time ago. You can read more about it here:

It's just more dirty deals and cronyism involving the Bush family and Administration - what a shocker that is!

And what books is he going to put in his library. Dr. Seuss? The Little Engine That Could? See Spot Run? The Hardy Boys? Or is he going to write his own? Let's see.... How I, GWB Didn't Catch Osama, How to Bring Down the Economics of the USA, Why Your Gas Prices Are Going Up Higher,I Wanna Be a Dictator Instead of Just A Tater.
I can't blame Souther Methodist for being in an uproar. I certainly hope this doesn't succeed.
I couldn't use the word Di*k for the Di*k and Jane and Spot books, egads!!
PEACE
