My husband and I saw the movie Cloverfield this weekend. Not to get into detail and spoil it for those who havent seen it, but I wanted some opinions...What did you think of the movie? Do you have any speculations on what the heck the so called "monster" was? Do you think they set this movie up for a sequel (as my hubby seems to think)? How about the ending? Just wanted to know what otehr people thought. As of my own opinion...I thought the movie was fairly good..I guess if something were to happen like that in real life thats probably how it would go down. I was just a bit disappointed at the ending. I wish there had been more of an explanation as to what it was and what happened at the end. What are your thoughts?

I really loved this movie, I went to it twice in theaters and it was great both times around! There are some things you can watch for at the end of the movie that explain it more. But they happen SO fast most people miss them. In the very last scene, you can see a satlite (spelling? lol) falling into the water behind a cruise ship. That's what "woke" the mosnter up and caused it to come from the water. And this movie was DEFENIATLT set up for a sequel. After the creidts, there's a little special audio snipet. It is played backwards in the movie...but it's saying "It's Alive, Help Us."

@_@ I did not hear about it being a baby! Oh man, if that's the baby we are in some deep trouble! lol. Is there somewhere I can read about that, wherever you saw it? The audio wasn't worth sitting through the credits. You can't understand it because it's backwards, and now you know what it is! =) If you go to youtube you can hera it, tons of people have it uploaded there. I'll give you a link showing the staelittle falling and the credit audio, check it out! =) If you watch towards the end of the first link I give you, you'll see it falling clearly. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8XYERYYOyJQ&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zBHjgej9jp8

I think I definitley want to see this movie again...I missed the satellite falling into the ocean and didnt know about the audio at the end until I did research this morning. I was soo disappointed by the ending we left before the credits were done rolling. I was reading what the director said about the monster and apparently its supposed to be a baby and it was wreaking havoc because it was confused and disoriented and aggravated because it was being shot at..LOL...I would hate to see its parents.

To be honest I think its supposed to be a horror film, but they put in a small love story too. Its hard to describe...Maybe even science fiction...lol...I hadnt heard of it either until my husband and a friend of ours were talking about it. I apparently dont watch enough TV previews. :) My suggestion is to wait until it comes out on video. Save the money...I liked it, but at the same time was disappointed...And if you at least wait until you can rent it you will be able to rewind it.

It's defeniatly a horror/thriller/monster movie! lol. I wouldn't even put it in the "love story" genre...gyu has a crush on the girl in the movie, wants to save her =P hehe. But oh man! a lot of moments in the movie were SCARY! Had me, my sister, My DAD and his friend all freaking out and squirming in our seats! lol. I saw it twice in theaters and it was great, you should defeniatly go see it! =P

I thought it was great! I was sufficiently freaked out, the monster was VERY scary (especially now that I've read the interview with JJ Abrams about it being just a 'baby' monster), and I've been perusing the internet for more information since I saw it 2 weeks ago now. I definitely think they set it up for a sequel -- although I think it would be better if they gave us more background and didn't do it with the handi-cam this time.

I have to admit that I jumped quite a few times at the scary moments. Which it has been a long time since a movie has done that to me :) And I can definitley see them making a sequel to this movie since I read the interview with JJ Abrams as well. As far as the creature being a baby...that could be a bit terrifying considering the size of it...I dont know if I want to see what the Mom and Dad look like :)
