Totally Disgusting Profile...

The other day while wondering around MyLot looking at profile's I came across one that really turned my stomach. It had a slideshow player at the very top of the page...couldn't miss it and the pics were of anime girls being tortured and mutilated. I have a strong stomach but it took me a minute to realize what I was seeing and about a second to want to vomit. Their slogan (saying above their avatar) was It's not rape if their dead. I sent a message to MyLot letting them know about it and within about 20 minutes the slideshow was gone. I can't imagine what kind of mind would think that type of thing would be "cool" as one of his friends commented. The guy was listed as being 32 and had 2 friends. I know anime's are only cartoons (I've included a photo of one so you'd know what I'm talking about) but still if your looking at women being butchered, raped and tortured doesn't that pretty much send a big sign that you need help whether it's real women or cartoon women? I can't even imagine what would have happened if someone with small children had been around when someone accidently opened that profile as most of the women were naked not to mention the blood and gore shown. Do you think I was right or wrong in turning it in? What would you have done? Left it and just moved on or turned it in? Do you think the person should have had the entire profile removed and been banned or do you think just removing the slideshow was enough? **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

Yes you are right, whether it was anime or real,it still is disgusting and degrading to women..Good for you for reporting it too, I have always felt that mylot was somewhat safe for when my 5 y/o is standing near by and if I had see that, I would have done the same thing..:)

What got me was not only was it disgusting but what if my Nephew had been over when I opened that??? Can you imagine the explaining I'd have to do not only to him but to his father when he went home. That's not something that needs to even be on MyLot...they have sites for that type of stuff. Thanks for responding! **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

I think that display on the profile page goes beyond all tolerances except for people who think raping and killing someone is ok. I think turning the person in was fine. I don't know if I would have put a discussion up so the person might be able to find me afterward. . .. I think it's up to all of us to turn in people that so blatantly abuse Mylot, and I think someone that sick should get help and get out of Mylot.

I wasn't going to put it up but then I thought about and really what's the worse they can do? Negative rate me? Oh well...I'll live. I'd rather lose my little star than have some little kid stumble across that. I can't believe anyone would actually put something like that up on thier profile....I agree they need alot of mental help. Thanks for responding! **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

MyLot removed the slideshow but left the slogan. In a way I'm glad they left that up b/c anyone who goes to thier profile will know what type of sicko that person is. Most small children can't read well so they probably wouldn't understand what it means but it sends a loud and clear message to anyone thinking of adding them as a friend. A pic is different in that kids are drawn to colors and pics and it would stick in thier heads easier. Thanks for responding! **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

Oh i think you did the right thing, I'm glad that i didn't see this. Cartoon or not, its like you said, its sending a strong message if someone thinks thats KOOL.. I'm also glad that mylot removed it, and maybe they will tell the right people to watch that person closely so that they dont actually end up hurting someone.

I thought about that too. If someone is engaging in this with cartoons...how soon till they want to see it with real women...and then try it out in real life? There's some real sicko's out there. Thanks for responding! **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

although the internet opened a totally new ear for us all,we are free of speech on the web. that doesn't mean we are removed from the responsibility from what we send . if i were u ,i surely would do the same as u. and i think its very important to pay more attention to the kids. PS:i'm sorry for my poor english that i cann't express myself properly, which might give u some trouble to understand:) best wishes!

I agree with you that this is very inappropriate. I would hope that mylot would take this person out of being a member! I hate it when someone tries to slip disgusting things in on this site. Even sometime during a discussion, you will get a response that has nothing to do with the topic and is something vulgar. Good for you for turning him in!

It is totally inappropriate and I don't know why someone who's into that type of thing would want to spend time here with other members. I'd think they would want to be on a site that promotes that type of stuff. Thanks for responding! **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

Twoey68, I think you were right and with in your rights to turn it in. This is a site that people come to with view and opinions but we also have to be respectful of everyone here. I have an anime back ground from the anime he!l Girl. Very cute and non offensive. I would never in a million years think that a statement like that and graphics of that nature should be put on this site. I honestly would like to say yes I would report it but I just usually take note and avoid what I don't like. Should the person be banned I'm not sure I think we all deserve a warning and if we don't follow the warning then I think mylot should take actions. I do think removing the slide show was a good. start. Hopefully the tagline is removed also.

I do some of my MyLoting when my Nephew is over and he likes to sit at my pc with me and "help" me so when I see something in picture form that is that far over the line I turn it in. The slogan is sick and I agree it should be removed but most little kids can't read as fast as I can so I can scan a profile quickly to see if there's anything wrong that I need to close the profile quickly. But with pics thier little eyes are drawn right to it and even a brief glimpse can stick with them. Thanks for responding! **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

I have not seen it, but I would have reported it also, & hope that the MyLot admins do the right thing. Who's profile was it? Being that we're on each other's friends list, you can always send me a message if you don't want to post it publicly.

Good job for turning him in. How would you like it if one of your kids found it and you know someone knew about it and did nothing about it. I know you do not have kids but you get my meaning. Good going girlfriend.

How can you even ask? Of course you did the right thing, and the person should have been banned, not just from myLot but from all human contact anywhere forever. That is really disgusting. It is like one student we had who was always drawing little pictures of knives dripping blood and every assignment that was given he would turn it into something having to do with knives. At first we wanted to think he was harmless but I kept an eye on him and noticed that when he thought my back was turned he would be hanging over some girl another, so I interviews a few of the women in the class privately and found out he was telling them how much he would like to maim, mutilate, and end the life of a woman. They were afraid to him and even afraid to report this behavior, but when I asked, then they were so relieved. Each woman thought she was the only one and that nobody would believe her and that we would say she was overreacting. NOT! In the case you mention, those are the markings of a predator. Thank you for reporting this sort of filth so staff could take it down before other people saw it. I'm not into generalized "tattling" but over something like this we all have a responsibility to keep myLot safe and clean. I would have don the same thing.

I can't believe that you came across something like that on a profile here at MyLot. I'm glad that you reported it, I would probably have done the same thing. Not sure if they should be immediately removed, but should they do something like that again, yes they should be permanently banned!

I'm really surprised mylot didn't ban this person altogether. A sick mind can't create any good honest discussion in mylot, so what's the point of just removing the slideshow? mylot should even look at this person's friends profile. Who in the right mind wants to be friends with someone like that? They may not be able to choose their family, but surely they can choose their friends. There is a possibility these friends are also sick and will start another slide show or even video.

Sorry, I just realised it was mylot and not myspace. Now that is even worse! Mylot is more of a community than myspace. This is horrible! I hope that this person is banned from mylot all together. Like the comment above me says, I think this person should be banned all together from mylot.

I would have reported it too. I don't think it always means the person in question is prone to violence, sometimes I think they're just prone to drama/controversy & just want to start a stir. But regardless it's inappropriate here.

Absolutely you did the right thing. Without a doubt. I have a four year old daughter home with me most of the day when she is done with preschool. I have my computer set up in my living room. My daughter puts puzzles together here. She watches tv, and sometimes stands right next to me while I am on the computer to see if she can read any of the words I type.I like to monitor what she watches during her tv time. I work from home so I can do this. I couldn't imagine opening that if she had been with me. How would I explain or protect her from what she may have seen. Obviously, Mylot agreed with you as well. Or it wouldn't have been removed so quickly. Applause to you. I would have done the same. You have my thanks.

Ahem.. once I met a man and his girlfriend. The guy hardly new me but started talking about a certain type of picture he liked to look at. I told him, "Generally speaking, if you like that kind of stuff -- you don't tell other people about it." ... If someone likes Anime, certainly they are not alone. If one likes violent Anime, I think there are far more people into that than I want to know about. However, unless one is both twisted in the head *and* lacks normal social skills -- they should know better than to just post such interests publicly. :(
