Reading and scripts have been around for many thousands of years (Ancient Eygptian Heiroglyophics), and I don't think even the newest technologies are going to displace this. I do not think reading is a waster of time.

Reading is the best form of escapism. It's not only entertaining, but educational too. There are as many genres and styles as there are personal tastes; everyone can find a book they will enjoy. If you say you don't enjoy reading, perhaps you just haven't found the right kind of book. If you're not enjoying mystery, give science-fiction, or comedy, or philosophical writing a shot. The options are limitless.

I can not imagine any logical arguement for reading being a waste of time. Its something I always make time for, and I hope that my kids love to read as much as I do when they grow up. Books can take you to places you'll never get to see, introduce you to people you would never encounter, and give you a vacation from any stresses in your own life. I probably spend a small fortune in books ever year and I will keep doing so for the rest of my life.

Reading is very important. You can learn a lot about any subject you could possibly want to know about if you read. Reading well carries over into all other aspects of life. You need to be able to read and understand contracts, leases, legal forms, and registrations just to name a few. Students who can read do much better on exams than students with reading problems. There is nothing more enjoyable than curling up with a good book. I beleive reading is NEVER a waste of time.

No, I don't think reading is a waste of time. We all need to read in order to exercise our brains and to help us from wasting away. :) A teacher of mine once said that each of us need to be able to read at least 3 hours everyday to promote self-learning and to keep us alert and our brains well oiled.

i never think of reading as a waste of time, i love to read and i value the belief that reading promotes better learning for everyone, we don't know everything in an instant and we are not born genius. in fact even the most intelligent person still read or else he will not know the things he knew. besides how can we be able to know where we are going if we won't read directions. or how can we know if the products we are using is the right one for us if we wont read the label. knowledge from the most simple things up to the most complex can only be gain from reading and reading anything. even our teachers or our presidents read.

nope, i LOVE to read! i would much rather read than watch tv. i dont read a whole lot of fiction (which i do consider a waste of time - for me anyways since i have so little time to read) i would much rather read a piece of non fiction and since i am a history fanatic, thats generally what i read.

Reading is not a waste of time. Though many think that it is a waste of time, according to me reading is both pleasure and also enriching. Many a times I read while listening to music. Many a times, I cannot keep a book down if it is so intersting,I read it not just in my leisure time, but I carry it wherever I go and finish it at the earliest.
