I have not gone to a tanning salon in years, however I'm thinking of going. The reason is, I'm going on a cruise and I want to be tan when I get there... I don't want to be worrying about tan lines and what is going to show in my outfits! So my question for all you tanners out there is, when should I start tanning? My cruise is in the middle of May. Should I wait till mid April and go a few days every week until the cruise? Or should I start going now to get a start on it, then the week before go every other day? I want to make sure my tan is nice and even and that I'm not red when I go. Thanks for your help!

I went to a tanning salon one time. I laid in the little tanning bed for what was supposed to be 15 minutes. The timer went off, no one came and got me and I fell asleep in there. When I woke up a half hour later I'd been just about char-broiled. I had huge blisters all over me, I was in horrible pain and had to wear a sheet home (like a toga) b/c I couldn't put any clothes on. When I got home my Mom suggested that I put Aloe on it to help it heal...I did. I put it on, wrapped my sheet back around me and laid on my bed in front of the fan and fell asleep. When I woke up I found out I had bigger problems. The aloe had dried and stuck the sheet to my body. If there is one thing worse then having burns and blisters all over your body it is having to rip a sheet off it. It took me over a week to heal and I have never went anywhere near those places again. Do yourself a favor...take a friend with you to make sure your not in there any longer than you should be. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

oh wow! That is very, very scary! I always start out very slow and cannot even be in there for a full 15 minutes. I go for 5 minutes for the first 3 visits, then only a minute or two more each additional time. The place I have shuts off after you've set the timer, so you can't go over the amount you're supposed to...
