Did you attend or host an Oscar party?

Every year one of my old coworkers holds a wonderful Oscar party at her house where she puts on a huge spread of food and drinks, and we have a wonderful time stuffing ourselves, having cocktails, moaning about (or swooning over) the dresses and making little wagers as to who will win. It's also a great time to find out which movies really are hits and which you might want to think twice about paying $12 to see in theatres. This year was no exception and I still drool when I think about all the food and all the fun that was had last night. So did you go to an Oscar party? Or host one of your own? How was it? :)

Why not just invite your friends next year and have a potluck? I don't mean a real Oscar party with celebrities in LA.

The past couple of years my mother-in-law has had an Oscar party. It's a lot of fun. She has soup and sandwiches and everyone brings their favorite movie snack. She also has some cute film-theme decorations to get everyone in the mood. We flip around the channels to watch all the pre-shows, including Barbara Walters and all the red carpet arrivals. We sit and eat and chat about the stars' outfits and dates and their performances. We make predictions and just have a fun girls' night out.
