and forgot about it and it exploded??!!! We went shopping yesterday. When we got home my partner put a can of my Diet Root Beer i the freezer so it would get colder quicker. Well, she found it this morning, frozen and all over the freezer!! Grrrrrrr. It took me an our to clean it all up. We both said, after the fact, that we don't know why we put it in the freezer as I always use a glass with ice when I drink it. Did you ever do this or have someone else in your household do this? It's a mess!! PEACE

Oh Gosh, It is just like putting an egg hard boiled or not into a micro wave. It is very difficult to clean. I never stock soda at home so haven't gone through that till now. But I have put a hard boiled egg with shelels in the microwave and heard the explosion. I had thought only fresh eggs explode but the eggs proved me wrong. The micro was smelling. I had to take out all the things out and clean it with soap and water. I don't ever want to go through that again with the freezer...

Gosh, I can imagine that mess and the smell from the egg. I don't eat eggs so I don't have to worry about their messes. PEACE

Exploded can - An example of a can blown up due to being frozen!
Oh man yes I have done this and have never ever made the same mistake again LOL! It was a really hot summer a few years back in London and I had bought a 6 pack of Diet Coke. Needing something cold and not having any ice ready, I shoved a can in the freezer and thought I'd remember 20 minutes or so later to get the can out. I went into the living room and took a phone call from a friend and settled down with the fan on, erm some time later I heard a loud explosion and thought we were being bombed or something. I had forgotten about the can in the freezer completely and thought it was my oven or microwave that has suddenly blown up. I asked my friend to hold on and tentatively went to the kitchen. All looked ok, I then remembered the can, I opened the freezer door and it was like blood and guts everywhere LOL! What a nightmare it was to clean that up - and I tell you, once it happens you sure never make that mistake again hahahaha! Peace!

It is even worse when it is a glass bottle! My husband put a glass bottle in the freezer and forgot about it. I heard a noise and asked "what was that?" He said some big swear words and went to the freezer. Everything was covered in broken glass and cherry pop. It was a serious mess. I threw alot of sticky stuff away rather than try to clean it. It took forever to clean up since I had to be careful not to get cut. I did anyway though.

Yeah, glass would be bad! Thankfully, I haven't put glass bottles of soda in my freezer because I know at some point in time I would forget it. PEACE

Well not yet. I haven't tried. My wife will surely kill me if i do that. She regularly check the refrigerator, and will explode to anger if she found a food not covered... or items at the wrong place. But my sister did with a coca cola bottle. Of course you know what happen. Its really hard to clean it since I cant allow her to clean it herself. She is young during that time.

I put cans of soda in the freezer every so often but I'm usually pretty good about remembering that they are in there. My first year of college however, we had rented a microfridge from a company the school had a contract with. Well, that fridge froze everything we put in there, no matter what the setting. So, my roommate and I had some soda's in the fridge, went to class, came back to find slushy rootbeer and cola leaking all over the floor. We, of course called the company and thankfully they exchanged our fridge for one that didn't freeze everything we put in there..even if it didn't go in the freezer.

I did that alot when I was a kid but since I've gotten older I tend to be more careful about it. Also my poor teeth can't take drinking things that cold anymore. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

I always use a straw whenever I drink something cold, as my teeth are also sensitive. PEACE

Yes, I have been guilty of this a few times. I usually remember to grab it out before the can explodes, but when you totally forget....wow is it a mess to clean up.

I do this sometimes. My wife hates it. :) I have only had a few cans explode -- not like its a regular thing. However, I do remember once -- late at night -- hearing a "POP" noise and wondering with my wife what could have made that noise. We concluded the cat knocked something over, at least until morning came.

I think we can all say we're guilty of that at one time or another. I rarely drink soda anymore so it's been years for me, though. I usually drink water straight from the tap now.
