days of the week? Example meatloaf Mondays Chicken Tuesdays etc. to make meal planning easier? Or is it just whatever you are in the mood for?

I don't have the same meals on the same days every week, I just go by what I want to make that day. I do sit down and plan what I'm going to make for meals before I go to the grocery store so I don't end up missing certain things when I want to make a meal. If I remember right my mom used to kind of do that when I was a kid.

me too, I am too much of a mood cooker to plan on a certain dish for particular days each and every week. I have tried to do the menu for the month planning and that was easy for not having to rack my brain for ideas as the day approaches and also for grocery shopping, but it was just not a habit I was able stick with.

When I was growing up, that is how my mother would do it. Each night of the week, was a certain meal, and you could expect it on the table each week on that night. I myself refuse to do it. I prefer cooking what I feel like eating or what me or my family is in the mood for. It might not make planning the meal easier, but it makes meal time more enjoyable.

Oh and to add, you get to bypass the comments from the kids, "Oh man, meatloaf again".

growing up and for the first years of my marriage Wednesday was Spaghetti day (or some other italian styled pasta - lasagna etc) other than that I never had any habit as far as the days of the week/foods go. my brother's family always has Friday as Pizza day.

I don't have any specific meals set for certain days. It's more for me, whatever I am in the mood for, or whatever my husband wants and asks for. But I can say that every payday, which is every second Friday, we go out to eat. We always go to Foody Goody's which is a chineese buffet and we stuff our faces since it's all you can eat and we love chineese food. Yesterday morning I felt like chicken soup so I took out some chicken and put it in the slow cooker to cook very slowly all day long. It was so good and since I made lots and we really like it, we are having the same thing today for supper. The only difference is tonight I will make potato pancakes to go with it.

i sure do . i make a menu list of what of what i will fix each night from thursday to thrusady .thats when my husband gets paid.from that list i will buy what is needed per meal.sometimes i switch days around but if i do i know i will have the items needed for the meal. it might sound corny but when you only have anywhere from say $30 to $40 a week to spend on grocerys after paying bills that week and putting gas back for my husband to have gas to go back and forth to work .it helps out a lot. budget planning

I think it's great if it works in some houses. I prefer a more of a spontaneous dinner-making myself.

That would certainly solve the planning problem I have each day, but it would be too boring and limited. I like a wide variety of food and I'd soon get tired of the same thing every week. To answer your question, it's more like whatever I'm in the mood for.

I never know what I am fixing until the morning that day. I used to go by the rule of thumb, certain foods for the days of the week. That has all changed now because of my Multiple Sclerosis. Depends on how I feel that what I fix for supper. Tonight (by the way) is fried potatoes, salad and taco turkey burgers. It's a "fatigue" day.

Hello dear ersmommy. I just have my meals when I am in the mood for. I have my meals in the school canteen and there are some varieties for us to choose though I do not like the canteen food very much. I usually balance my food by having some different dishes for my body needs. Once in a while I would cook by myself when I am free from work and when I am not that busy. Thanks very much.

I do not fix certain things on certain days of the week. I always fix whatever I am in the mood to make. Tonight I made homemade Gyros. I had bought everything the other day, but did not feel like making it. Today just felt like the day, so I thawed the pita bread and meat out and got to adding the spices.

I never did but I can see taht it would be a great way to plan and all for busy mothers and not spend so much time on that stuff and more with their kids. I just spent the weekend baking/cooking things taht I could freeze and then all I had to do was heat it up (this was before microwaves!) But I'd take it out in the Am before work and put it in the fridge and then come dinner time, it was nearly thawed so just pop in the oven while changing clothes and situating the kids for homework.

I have something different everyday. Whether we eat in or eat out. I usually dont know what im making til late the night before or early the next morning. Sometimes not even until dinner time comes. I hate eating the same thing over and over again. So I try to mix it up as much as possible! :)

I am trying to do a certain meal each day...hard to commit to because I like to open the fridge and cook what I am in the mood for or what I am craving...but I think the routine meal could be easier ultimately and relieve that underlying stress about what I am going to have for dinner.
