Have you been to Corregidor Island, Philippines?

Corregidor - A mortar in Corregidor was always ready to be fired towards the enemies during the World War II. Those were the times which i wouldn't wish to happen again in the history of the Philippines and of the World. Now, the mortars, guns, cannons are already silent but the memories of war as apparent in the ruins at Corregidor brings back the memories and emotions for those who have suffered during the war.

I have been in Corregidor a few days ago. It was my first time to visit such place full of history and memories of the war that took place during 1941-1942. I had a mix of emotions when i had the tour because i had imagined how difficult was the life of the soldiers at the onset of the war until it ended. I was so glad that we, the new generation, have not experience anything like our forefathers have experienced and i so much value peace, harmony, and justice more right now!Have anyone here visited Corregidor? How did you find the place and its rich memories??? Do share your thoughts!:-)

I haven't been to the Philippines yet but I hope to sometime over the next few years. I am very keen on traveling and like to visit historical sites. Corregidor Island sounds a fascinating place to visit. When I was in Hawaii I went to Pearl Harbor and heard about the terrible night it was hit and I could see some of the ships broken in the water. There were markers to show the events of that awful episode from history. I have visited many concentration camps in Europe. The ones in Poland sent a chill down my back. I can't explain how upsetting it was to find out what went on there. I have been to Anne Frank's house in the Netherlands, a girl that wrote a diary in World War II. Yes, it is fascinating to visit such places and with rich memories.
