Did you find "American Beauty" to be a total Pop Masterpiece as I did?

I loved the film called American Beauty.
I felt it was a popular film masterpiece. While dramatically it does not conform to the typical cinema formula, it still delivered solidly. I felt that all of its characters were solid and that in particular Kevin Spacy was wonderful. I found the ending to be shockingly surprising, and the dialog to be classic.
I may have been more impressed by it since I was 17, and at a state where my cinema knowledge was low... but I still remember viewing this film and being left highly impressed by it.
Did you find "American Beauty" to be a great film?

Kevin Spacey is my favorite actor. So when he was nominated for best actor for American Beauty, I Had to see it. I lucked out , back then the films that were nominated were still in the theater. So I went to see it and was moved. Not only did Kevin get his Oscar but American Beauty got an Oscar for Best Picture. It is an instant classic. The plot is great and the dialogue was classic.

I as well found it massively memorable and Kevin's character to be wonderfully despondent... I also found the dark comedy in this film cinematicly delicious..

Do you have a favorite scene? I have three. Kevin and his daughter's boyfriend outside the restaurant, Kevin working the drive thru window, and Kevin comforting Jane's ex best friend.

I love American Beauty... and it one of my all time favorite movies... it was made with a lot of detail and with so many unforgettable scenes... and the actors were great... especially Anneth Benning and Thora Birch... i think Mena Suvari became more popular because of her role in this movie...
