Legalizing Ammendments and Bills

United States

Here is something I have thought of many times. When ammendments and bills get signed and they have other bills inside of it. In other words, lumping many different ammendments into one. If I was ever a politician, I would tell the person or group presenting the bill, that I would NOT sign anything if there was many things added into. I would immediately Veto the bill even at the expense of many people. I think each bill and ammendment should be presented seperately. That way, nothing "bad" would slip by unnoticed and become a law. What do you all think? Do you agree or disagree and why?

Your discussion is exactly why we need to reinstate the line-item veto. This gave the President power to sign a law, but veto specific portions of that bill. This power would eliminate earmarks and other bills trying to slide by on the 133rd page of a law that should be 2 pages long.

Thanks for the response. Ooh, looks like I finally have a good idea hehe. I never heard of the line-item veto, but it sounds like a really good thing to me. You're right, they DO need to reinstate it.

Yes I agree there was never supposed to be a lumping of bills into an amendment. This is what happened when they passed NAFTA. Now look where we are. Jobs overseas and illegals coming by droves to work at what is left. This is the lazy mans way out and wrong. It was not the vision of our forefathers and we the people should protest and demand repealing of amendments where bills are lumped togather. The lumping is certainly going to continue with any of the current politicians vying for the White House except for Ron Paul who wants a grass roots back to basics government and YES he still is in the running. I am one of his delegates. Vote for RON PAUL in the general election.

Don't worry Celanith, Ron Paul is the only candidate I really like. I don't trust anyone else to tell the truth, although Borack is just so/so in my book. Once I figure out how I can register to vote, I'm going to vote for Ron.
