which artist do you like ?

I like Van gogh best,not only his paintings,but also his character.Most of people think that he was crazy,he is mat.But I think that was because he loved painting so much.
I prefer the impressionist.
I myself paint,too.But I was just started .and I feel that it is so hard when creating,sometimes I nearly rack brains!

Van Gogh is a good choice. I like his works, too.
But my favourite artist (in painting) is Picasso...all his works convey a really strange feeling in me. I like his way of seeing things, of decomposing reality...
My favourite current is surrealism, on top of which Salvador Dali is the best. I think surrealism had the biggest influence on art until now after the Renaissance.

Indeed, he has some humour in his works (not all of them) and indeed he is sometimes to ermethic...but the understanding is based on experience...I mean if you study the current a little bit, you get to know what he wanted to give us...
On the other hand, some wise guy said that "art is not to understand, but mostly to feel", so basically, if you feel the same thing the author wants you to feel, then the purpose of the art was accomplished...

i too would have to pick van Gogh. i LOVE starry night, it would have to be by far my favorite painting. i was actually going to go as far as having it tattooed, but it would look funny. i love his style. i love almost all of his paintings.
but i have to say i also like Monet. their styles are somewhat similar, but Monet has a much softer touch. i have to add that that is his later works that are similar, not his earlier.

I adored Leonardo Da Vinci. He is so brilliant and smart. His hand was magical. He draw not to decorate only, but he draw to learn details, study and to design the future and he draw to explore the world. But from the result of painting all mades, my consideration its also include monet, and van gogh (specially the sun flower painting).

I like the last supper "leonardo da vinci". It really a very nice painting i ever seen. Its just great! awesome masterpiece. Its about Jesus and his disciples last supper, before he would be crucified, and that moment has a really deep religious meaning.
