Do you limit TV watching for your child?

Do you limit the amount of TV your child(ren) watches? How old are your children & how much do you allow them to watch? My 2 year old likes to have "her shows" on the tv but doesn't actually sit & watch but maybe 20 minutes in the morning. The rest of the time she's playing & will sometimes stop to dance to the music on the TV.

my son is 9 and i don't limit the ammount of T.V he watches as i see no need to. first thing in the morning before school he watches 2 programs (half an hour each with adverts in) on is the fantastic 4 cartton and the other is yu-gi-oh-gx, he watches these while sorting himself for school and having his cerial, so his full attention isn't always on the T.V. it'self anyway. when he comes home from school, he usually goes upstairs or out to play, he doesn't really watch T.V. again until the simpsons comes on at 6:30. then he doesn't watch anything until he has a video/dvd at bed time. at the weekends he may watch 1 to 2 hours of T.V., but generally he likes to go and see his friends instead, so i have never worried about having to limit his Telly watching time.

It's good that he's more interested in friends & being active than TV. Too many kids nowadays live in front of the TV (IMO).

We have the tv on..But it's more for comfort. My daughter usually watches 1 hour and 1/2 -2 hours. Mostly nature and educational. But if we turn it off she complains the hous is too quiet. So then on comes the stereo.

Just like my little one. If the TV is off, she wants music on! AND mommy always gets to do the goofy dances with her. LOL

At 5, my daughter knows she can't watch or be in front of the tv all day. We allow her to watch fun educational shows for children. Nick, Disney , Cartoon Network are the channels she watched. She knows her linit and turns off the tv when she no longer wants to watch or the show's she's watching had ended.

No I dont limit my child because i old them already that they have have to be responsible enough to know what they have to do tomorrow. They have to go to school early and leave early at home and be back on the afternoon to. They dont have the limitation on watching tv as long as they do their homeworks and gets enough sleep thats alright

I have a 2 1/2 yr old and like you I have the TV on but it depends on the day for him. Some days he pays attention to maybe 1 hr- 1hr 1/2 tops and other days like when he is sick he might lay on the couch and watch a bit more. All kids/educational shows. He is usually asleep when my husband and I watch what we like on TV. Occassionally on the weekend my husband might not follow that rule. It definitely is too quiet when the TV is off but we do spend a few hours a day with it off.

I have a 2 yr old also and I don't feel the need to limit his T.V., he too only watches some in the morning, but likes to have the T.V. on (I think he too listens to the music) and its only on PBS because I don't have cable, which I'm not sure I want. Now my 12 yr old we have to limit her or thats all she will do. We turn the T.V. off every night at 8pm and she reads until she goes to bed at 9:30pm, although the T.V. is on until then it really isn't watched, but our house seems too quiet if we turn it off. I expect to have to limit my 2 yr old when he gets older, but for now its not an issue. He'd rather play most of the time.

Our daughter is 10. We allow her to watch about 1 hour of television at night during the week.If she has her home work done. On the weekend we allow her to watch about 2 or 3 hours. She must read every day before television or video games are allowed though.
