This is fairtrade fortnight in uk, so will you take a chance and try some or maybe you already buy fairtrade?
Here is the webiste for more info

I'm proud of the fact that Edinburgh became a fairtrade city in 2003. It's so good to be able to buy fairtrade goods, altho I think all trade should be fair but sadly it's not.

I already buy fair trade coffee whenever I buy coffee for the machine, and PG tips are also making at least half their tea fair trade too which is big step in the right direction. If all these big tea and coffee companies did that it would really make a difference.
Sadly I just can't afford the difference in price with most fair trade products though I do like the chocolate and other products, it's just too expensive to buy all fair trade.

It is but like you I buy what I can afford. The co-op does a lot of their own brands now as fairtrade.
I'm a bit sceptical of the big companies as although the farmers are getting a fair price, I don't think we are.

Yes it can't be costing them that much more to buy things fair trade, did you watch that documentary film "Black Gold" about coffee? Apparently fair trade selling cuts out the middle man so the growers sell directly to the companies (or in the case of coffee the refiners). so it should actually cost them slightly less or about the same if you think about it.

I didn't see that, which is strange as I usually watch those type of programmes. You're right it should be about the same or less but all the supermarkets/big companies see is a product they can put a big profit margin on.
