Sure they should hershey, if they go through the proper channels to become legal citizens. The key word here is 'legal'.
There's much controversy over calling these people 'illegal aliens'. Again, the key word being 'illegal'.
Why should anyone coming into any country illegally, be given any different treatment with regards to citizenship, granting them priveledge over the people who enter 'legally'.
It doesn't matter if they have been in the USA for 5 years or 20,working or not, paying taxes or not.
Illegal aliens should do their best to follow the law, just like everybody else.
Otherwise, they remain 'illegal'. If they are 'illegal', anything they do carries that label, If they work, they work illegally. If they pay taxes, they only pay the tax on purchases. They very well might pay Federal taxes, which are automatically taken out of a 'payroll check', but they pay them illegally. IF they file, they file illegally.
In summary, they should be allowed to live in the USA - ONLY if they follow the proper registration process. Otherwise - as I stated previously, they remain - - - An Illegal Alien.
Try to go to any other country as an illegal - undocumented worker and see how fast you are shipped back to where you came from or locked up in some forgotten prison.

Well, first off, they have committed a federal crime by entering the US illegally. So, that would make your question invalid as they are all committing a crime. In fact, as the laws are written, if they come here illegally and they are caught, they are to be deported and will never be allowed entry to the US. The next part of your question is that if they have been working a job for 5 yrs in the US without legal entry. That means that they have stolen someones Social Security number which is a felony. Do, that means that is 2 crimes that they have committed. And as far as taxes go, I doubt that any of them really fill out a tax form on a stolen SS #, do you? That would be kind of nuts. Not only would that pop up as a SS# that didn't match the name, but it would also show where he/she was residing! Now, to answer your question if they should be allowed to stay? Heck NO! They are criminals!
