Fasting Again

United States

I can't stand how I looked after the last week, in which I binged nearly every day. So now I'm fasting again. Day 2, and not too bad. This is the hardest day for me usually, but this time I'm pretty OK. Basically lost the desire to eat yesterday evening. I'm allowing all forms of tea though, to not deprive myself of a variety of flavors. I hope to fast 7 days. I'll stop if I become dizzy, but that's not likely, since there is no way I'll get anywhere near underweight. I'm really fat right now, I need to lose just to fit my spring clothes!!! Last ditch effort to get into my Easter dress.

You should be careful when doing something like that. It can make you very sick. You should definitely try and keep your body hydrated. Simply cutting out fatty foods and sugary drinks can help you lose weight without fasting altogether like you are. It's something that can affect your health greatly. I'm not trying to be hypocritical in anyway. Just want to make sure that you are okay and that you know how dangerous this can be. I hope you don't take any offense to my saying that. Cutting out foods and not eating doesn't necessarily make you lose weight anyway. Your body can gain water weight faster that way. That and the way that you lose weight when you don't eat is that your body will try and make up for the missing nutrients by attacking vital fat stores in your body. So you aren't really dropping the unhealthy weight but instead using up nutrients in your body that you need. I hope that you do really stop if you get dizzy as this is a sign of your body being deprived of something greatly important. Good luck and please be careful once again.

Hey girly. I've missed you. I've relapsed too, if it means anything. It's either that or I'm afraid of what I might do. :-s I feel terrible, but this is just the way it is for us I guess. We try to fix it, we try to fight it, but it's always there, always egging us on, and never letting us free. I think it's just time we accept it as permanent. Because anyone who has truly been to hell and back with the disorder...Is lying if they say they can get better.

You know to be honest (and i know exactly how you feel, ive tried most things in the book)but now im just cutting back on calories but being sensible about it.... well anyways fasting doesnt help if its for too long! you see if you fast after a few days your body starts to shut down to keep as much energy as it can,and your metabolism drops to an all time low, instead of burning 2000 cals a day it will drop to only burning 400 or so calories, so by the time you start eating again your bodies metabolism will still be only burning about 400 cals when you start eating more than that therfore you put the weight straight back on

Fasting should be used as a way to detox your body and bring a sense of wellbeing, it is recommended you use freshly squeezed fruit and vegetable juices, water, and homemade broth. If you are doing it purely to try undo the effects of bingeing, its too late, the calories have already been absorbed by your body and a short fast wont fix that. You will just be at more risk of another binge when you eat again. I do feel for you, as i myself also suffer with an eating disorder and seem to be forever yo-yoing between restricting and bingeing. If you want to fast, then fast, do it for the right reasons and weightloss may be a natural side effect. If you want to loose weight, exercise, stick with a sensible amount of calories, dont deprive yourself and look after your body- we all no its the only way

Aww... You know I love you, right? Even though we haven't known each other that long, you're still sweet. I read a lot of what you write and I really feel like I kind of know you. I know how hard it can be... And reading this post brings back so many memories for me. I remember, my junior prom, I went on a fast for nearly two weeks just to fit my dress because I LOVED that dress and I was bound and determined to do anything I had to until it would fit. Just be careful because even if you are "fat" fasting like that isn't good for your body. Good luck and message me if you need anything.

I do this sometimes too it is not very healthy and please be careful, make sure you drink lots of water and get lots of sleep. When I fast I allow my self negative calorie foods like oranges and celery. Please be careful

Fasting is really unhealthy as a weight-loss aide. I have to say I don't agree with this form of fasting due to the health effects it could potentially cause. Not eating for periods of time slows your metabolism down and over time will cause you to GAIN weight not lose it. The safest way to lose weight is to multiply your weight by 7 and eat that many calories every day, you'll lose 1-3lbs per week, which is the healthy weight to lose without causing harm to your body or metabolism. If you exercise it might help you lose more weight. While it's tempting to try all sorts of fad diets and starvation modes to lose weight, you really shouldn't do that as it will only hurt you over time.
