How low is your food budget?

Our monthly food budget is $250. There is 4 of us, 2 adults and 2 kids ages 6 and almost 3. We eat well, never go hungary and always have a full pantry. I keep feeling like I could spend a lot less and still be happy but I have not put a plan up yet. I shop monthly and then do one small trip for milk, bread and eggs (that is it unless there is a great stock up sale) 2 weeks later. What do you spend on groceries and what are your tips for spending less?

Well our was less, but it seems like it has jumped to $300. My ons has started eating a lot more, plus we have been on a huge health food kick (zero junk food, mostly organic, etc). That in and of itself is driving up our grocery costs. That also include toilet paper, shampoo, etc.

It is very hard to eat healthy and still be on a budget. I depend so much on my garden to help us out. I grow what ever I think we will use and try to get some extras so we can trade for things I dont grow. We tried to buy more produce at the stores but it killed the budget fast. I know how my food is grown and I am proud of what we have made. It is a win win for us.

Oh my I wish I could get our food budget that low. Every two weeks I spend between 200 and 300 but then I'm also in the store almost every other day picking up stuff I forgot. I think my husband and kids must have hollow legs. And it's not like we're overweight. We are all quite slim. Maybe I should start shopping for better deals.

I treat it like a game. I go for the deals but I know I could be working harder at it. I could plan more and do better menus and lists. It is work and if we had more money I dont think I would think so much about it but we could use a new car so it all adds up.

There is 4 of us also. I spend approximately $250. I catch deals and buy when things are on sale and put it in the freezer or the pantry.

I don't really track the grocery budget very closely. There is only two of us, and we sort of alternate on the shopping trips. Usually we do a $30 to $50 every 10 days or so, and one big trip $90-$100 every 5 or 6 weeks. It really depends on our work schedules. Our biggest waste of grocery money is when we buy fresh stuff or open canned goods and then don't get around to finishing it before it goes bad. The best tip I have for not overspending is to make a list and stick to it. Impulse buys are usually more expensive than the staples.

I usually keep track of the products on sale in the grocery because they often come up with different products on sale. Then I bought several of those products and stock it. But the regular stuff that we need, like the basic, I usually go for the grocery brand name, it's usually cheaper.

firstly,i am a half-vegetarian.putting meat and vegetable in front of me,i will prefer to eat vegetable rather than meat.because i guess vegetable is more healthier than meat. i usually spend about 12 yuan in my meals.even in our country, people here must fight to the inflation.

Our food budget is around $300 a month plus the little extras here and there. I sometimes think I may need to increase the budget because even though I shop very smart it seems the last week or so of the month there just isn't hardly anything left.
