Well, It Isn't Over Yet (Amanda went to court today)

Amanda had to go to court today regarding the incident that happened to her back in July. We all really hoped that the guy would plead guilty and accept his medicine so that it would all be over. Unfortunately it didn't work that way. His lawyer tried to get him to plead guilty but apparently he thinks he has a chance to prove himself big. He waltzed in wearing a suit and tie!!! The district court judge believed Amanda though and is giving him 14 days to get the paperwork filed to appeal his case. If he doesn't he will have spend 90 days in jail and pay a hefty fine. But the assistant district attorney feels like he will get the papers filed and that it will definitely go to trial before a jury. Please keep praying for Amanda. She is torn up about going to court again but she knows she is definitely going to do it and show this jerk that he can't do women this way. I'll keep you posted on what happens. Thanks for listening. SheliaLee

Hi Sweetie! She did stay awake and kept a straight face LOL. She did okay until she went to a separate room to talk to the Assistant District Attorney and that when she lost it. They told her to not worry, she isn't the first person who cried in the court room and certainly won't be the last. Before she went in there though she kept looking toward where he was sitting out of the corner of her eye and if looks could have killed he would have been a goner. She was shooting daggers with her eyes!! I had to step out for a few minutes and he had moved out into the hallway with his lawyer. I couldn't bring myself to even look at him. It was so hard not to reach out and kick him just as hard as possible. When we got home I told her to change into her night clothes, eat some supper and not think about it anymore. She was able to rest after that. I think she will be okay until it starts getting near time for it all to start up again. But hopefully it will be easier for her then. Talk to you soon hon! Hugs!!! I'm not surprised that the guy came in looking all duded up and proper...a great ploy to be sure to make him look like he's the innocent one. I'm glad though that the judge believed your daughter. And while the idea of a trial by jury thing might be nerve wracking for your daughter, she is right in wanting justice to be served and get this loser the punishment he deserves.

I agree with you completely. I didn't even realize it was him until the judge started calling the names of those accused and he raised his hand. Amanda did though, of course. Her dad and I are really proud of her for going through with this.

Thanks so much, she will appreciate your response greatly hon. I was so hopeful that this jerk would just plead guilty so it would all be over with, he just isn't showing any sense at all. You would think he would realize he is just making it harder on himself. Thanks for being such a great friend! Shelia

I am very happy that Amanda is finding the strength and courage to do this. I know it is not easy. Every time I have had to go to court for any reason, I become very anxious. This guy does need to know that the law will not be on his side when he mistreats women. I will say a prayer for her.

Thank you so much Rozie! She will appreciate that very much. I still can't believe he wouldn't plead guilty, but he is just a very foolish person. I'll keep you posted.

By the sounds of a jerk like this, he will not be able to get the paperwork filed in 14 days. I hope he just has to go straight to jail, and Amanda doesn't have to go through a trial. Has he received any other charges from others that he has done this too!

Hi Terri, I hope you are right, but the Assistant DA says she is pretty sure it will go to trial. We honestly don't know if he has done this before and received charges or not. The clerk that works in the DAs office told us yesterday that she overheard them talking about the case and said that the reason he gave for what he did was "Oh I was just stressed out and that was a way of relieving myself." Can you believe the gall of this character???? I was so mad yesterday Terri that I wanted to slap him till his jaws swung back and forth!!
