Adding to your discussion

Don't you wish that after you post a discussion that if you wanted to add an addendum you could? For example if there is something you want to add to clarify your discussion there is no place to do that. If you post it after someone elses comment, chances are the next person may not read it. How many times have you posted a discussion and wanted to add something to it? Don't you wish that you had the ability to add to the main topic?

Yeah. Many times, I wanted to add up to my discussion. The system does not permit. One can add as a comment to other discussion and chances are that this may be misunderstood. One more option left out with us is pick up similar dicussion (great extent it is like that) and give our 'after-thought' inputs. That way myLot helps us to think more and more and comment.

Yes, because sometimes you don't want to add an addendum until after someone has responded.

oh yes, many times. Something like the PS in our good old letters. I also feel like doing the same in my responses. Like I am responding to this discussion and after I have posted it, I suddenly feel like adding something as an afterthought but then that shows as a separate entry and not inside the same responses. But I guess that way nobody is able to manipulate the responses and such security does matter.

I can understand them not wanting to post a comment on your own post, so what you said makes sense.

I feel that way sometime. I usually add on the thought or whatever in reply to the first response I get so most people read it too. I have seen some members post a new discussion again and stating it is a revamp of the old one which is more accurate etc.

Yes, I've seen people do the same. However, some people may not have read both posts or seen both or even want to respond to both.

Frankly speaking I do not feel that much about adding addendum's to discussion. I rarely post pictures with my discussions also. But i think like you there are so many peopla who like to add some.there should have been the provision to do so.

In my case... i intentionally don't write everything in my discussion... this is because... i still want something to say when i comment to all those who will respond... aside for that... i try not to write very long discussions because i know that many members do not want to read long ones... so i keep it not too short but not too long...

But sometimes I think of something after I posted a discussion that I want to add to clarify what I had written originally.

I can add more information in my comments to responses and clarify a thing or two there, but then I still feel anyone looking at the discussion will read only the opening perhaps? Or I could say on the other hand that it would't be a completely pure discussion if we could add stuff on top after there have been responses. Maybe there could be a heading on top that indicated what was added by the originator and when? whit

You got my point exactly, that others may not read what you have added in someone elses comments. There must be some way that mylot could let you do that, it would seem.

Oh, you are right. With out additonal information, the discussion is generally not complete. This is done by giving comments to the responses. in this comments section one can add a point or two.

The problem with that is that people who are answering the post don't always take the time to read what everyone else has posted.

Sounds like a great idea doesn't it! That and an edit feature but I don't know if it would be something admin would consider, great idea though! xxx

That has to be one of the most annoying things on the lot. The first of course is the bogus star rating system. Anyways, I've run into this problem with discussions AND responses! There is only so much length and then you run out. Kbour, I've got discussions that are SAGAS! Two are trilogies I can think of at the moment. Its not because I wanted it like that, I just ran out of space. And then I had to start another discussion (and yet another...). Of course the my lot excuse is abuse and they'd be right. Someone could just make a discussion talking to themselves to jack up responses. Though I think that looks pretty pathetic, its still possible.

Perhaps they could let us add to our discussions, but put a limit on how many times we are allowed to edit it.

All the time. I often think that I wish that I would like to add something extra or had phrased something better, and my spelling! The thing that annoys me though is when I am offered the opportunity to add tags when all I am doing is responding to a comment to a discussion that I started.

What irritates me, is them asking to add tags to private messages. Why would I want to do that?

Why indeed.

Yes! I tend to go too fast and almost always think of something I wanted to add and its too late. I wish there were an 'edit' feature, but then I suppose that could be abused too.

There is abuse, no matter what you do, but I think an "edit" feature is a wonderful idea.

That would be nice to be able to do that. This has happened to me. And as you say when you add what you wanted to after someones response it may or not be read by the next person. It would be nice if we could add a addendum to our discussions. It has happened a few times. Most of the time though I try to put down a few key points I want to put into my discussion before I even come here so that I remember what I want to say. I always have a pad of paper on me no matter where I go.

The thing is sometimes you don't think of things until after people have responded. They may not read what you read in the way you meant and you'd like to clarify, just how you were asking the question.

Yes I do. I'll write something, read it over, and think its good. Hit the button to post the discussion. and a minute later, remember something else that I should have put in the discussion. I hate that. LOL

I do this all the time. I always end up making a typing mistake in the heading also which is up there for everyone to see. One discussion the other day, re Prince Harry, once they had decided they were sending him home it would have been great if I could have added that information below the inital discussion. I'm sure Crash will listen to this and make some more amendments soon though. Ellie :D
