Earthquake in the U K

February 27, 2008 3:33am CST
At about 1 am this morning I was awoken by what I can only describe as a very loud rumbling noise followed by the whole house shaking and rattling, my cat sleeps on my bed and he was quite disturbed by the event. I have to say even the bell on his collor was ringing, after what seemed an age but was realistically about 10 seconds things settled I realise it was a earthquake or tremor. I checked the house to see if all was ok finally got back to sleep about an hour later, I've had experience of earth tremors before the worst being while on holiday in Cyprus. Thankfully according to news reports there seems to be minor damage and so far no reports of major injuries. Experts say it measured 5.2 quite a large one by all accounts. It would be interesting to see how many others experienced this event and if so how did it effect you, did the earth move for you, oh I have to add my husband and grandson slept through the whole event.

My boyfriend is convinced we did but as I explained to him the noise we heard has happened before and as we are in Scotland, I doubt it would be felt this far north, sigh. It's good to hear there weren't any injuries but it is still a scary thing here.

It is certainly scary, but at 5.2 it is possible he could have felt it, apparently it was felt all over the place lol.

Maybe he did but I reckon it was a washing machine, as one of our neighbours does that sometimes. We are in Edinburgh, so it isn't that far north but I certainly didn't feel it.
