Has anyone else heard of this superb musical nutbar and gas-masked "Her Boy"? I had the pleasure of first hearing them last year when they were supporting The Puppini Sisters (check out the videos for their singles "Spooky" and "Jilted" on YouTube, they're fabulous!)
Her voice is like none I've ever heard before and I've been anxiously awaiting the release of their first album, "Dada Noir" this year.
Their style of music is described as "Dark Cabaret" and the Dresden Dolls are already big fans. The idea behind Dark Cabaret is really interesting. During the Nazi period in Germany, there were many underground resistance cabaret clubs where singers sang their political satire and protest. Patty Plinko builds on this style and infuses her own quirky personality.
You can hear some of their music here on MySpace: http://www.myspace.com/pattiplinkoandherboy
I recommend "Deepest of Darkest" and "Brief Call". Superb songs!
