Anyone ever read any Cormac McCarthy? I loved the adaptation of his "No Country For Old Men" and interested in picking up one of his books. Any recommendations, comments, etc? Thanks.

I recently read No Country for Old Men after a new friend passed it onto me on a ferry when he was through with it. I must admit that although the story was good, the book was rather hard work. Another friend read it after me, and said much the same thing. Many of the characters had similar sounding names and there wasn't punctuation on all the sections of speech, which just meant that you had to concentrate pretty hard. I've not seen the film of this book. I imagine it would make a great one.

I cannot recomend any book stronger than Blood Meridian. Its not only his best book but probably the best book I have ever read as well. other books that are great are his border trilogy especially All The Pretty Horses. The Road is great as well. His southern gothic stuff like "Suttree" and outer dark are excellent but more of an acquired taste. McCarthy is my favorite writer
