smaller and smaller gadgets

I've noticed almost every time I go out that gadgets are getting smaller and smaller. The cell phones of the 80's were about the size and heft of a brick. Today's cell phones are small enough to hide in a small child's fist. As a joke one was made a little larger than a man's thumb... There is a computer so tiny it can hide under a stick of gum. A woman's thumb is the size of a small camera. All these gadgets can fit in a large coffee cup. Shades of Gulliver's Travels anyone?
