I have a rice cooker. The rice comes out perfect every time. We eat alot of rice. If you or your family eats rice frequently, a rice cooker is a good investment. i got one of those steamers/rice cookers made by cuisinart.

Short answer: use a rice cooker. I never got consistently perfect rice when I cooked it on the stove. It shouldn't be that difficult, but it just never worked out. Clean up wasn't so easy either. After buying a cheap ($20) rice cooker, it was done perfectly every time. It's well worth the investment if you eat rice often. My cheap one didn't do a good job with brown rice. Now I've upgraded to a Japanese style rice cooker that has more features and fuzzy logic programming. It makes perfect sticky rice, brown rice and even oatmeal.

I have to agree with the rice cooker...I love to cook and consider myself a good cook, but I just can not manage rice from scratch for the life of me...it is always off on the consistency---the rice cooker helps make it pefect...but they are made of aluminum nd you should not cook with aluminum so I now buy the frozen rice already cooked at the stores.
