British Royalty in the Front Lines of War

Great Britain's Prince Harry, son of Crown Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana, grandson of the Queen of England, is serving with a military unit in the front lines of the war in Afghanistan. This information has been kept secret from the press for the safety of his unit. Was it smart to send a possible heir to the throne into a danger zone? Doesn't that carry extra risk for that platoon? Have you heard about this? What's your take on this matter?

I do not think it was a smart move to send Harry to the Middle East, but it was still his decision. I believe this news will make him even more popular in England. Although he is a very distant relative of mine, I'm glad he will be back in England where he is safer, and I'm proud of him to stand up for what he believes in.

i think it was the right thing to do - i believe it was his grand mother, the queen, who actually told him he could go. Prince Harry wanted to fight, so if every other soldier is out there risking their life, then why shouldn't Harry. Personally I am proud of him and every other soldier for risking their life for their country

I think it was an excellent decission. This man needed to prove he can get involved just like any other serviceman, and this was the only way it could be done. It's good PR for the Royal family and Britain. While we are lacking in politicians willing to send their children over to fight for their country, we know we can rely on the Royals to keep up the tradition. The press did very well to keep it covered which is credit to them too. Although the main reason for this was because they would get interviews on Prince Harry's return. Apparently the story was leaked back in January by an Australian website, then only recently picked up by an American website and the German newspaper. Which is understandable as none of them were to get exclusive interviews.

There is no possible way for me to wiggle around a direct answer to this question without getting into trouble from one side or the other, lol. I thought of at least 8 different scenarios, and each one was funnier than the last, but maybe it isn't a joking matter. On the other hand if we don't laugh at some of the silly situations that crop up in the news, the gravity of them all could clobber us.

Hi I am from UK and have just watched a news special on this and he was taken into Afghanistan by Special Forces but he now is just with his regular unit. Yes he makes a prime target, but it is his choice to be there, the British Press had kept the lid on this and people are angry that foreign media have leaked this because like you say it puts him and the rest of his unit in immense danger, it really gives the Taliban a target to go for. God bless Harry. Ellie :D
