How concerned are you about germs?

I am becoming a germaphobe because, I am not a challenge to illnesses. I get sick so easily. If someone has a cold, I will catch it. So, when the bosses are sick or their kids are sick, and they touch my stuff, I try to wipe it down with anything antibacterial that I have handy. The boss just touched my pencil and his kid has been sick on and off with a flu or something for about 3 weeks. I have some Bath and Body Works Instant Antibacterial hand gel and I put a drop of it on my fingers and grabbed my pencil and rubbed the gel into it all over. That is how bad I have become. When I say I get sick, I don't just get sick for a week or two. I get sick for 3 months. No exageration. No joke. 3 months! I wipe down the grocery cart before I touch it with an anti-bacterial cart. I wash my hands a lot. I try not to grab door handles if I can avoid it. I will walk through the automatic doors into and out of stores if they have them. Otherwise, I will try to use my wrist to open the door on my way in and the shoulder or hip my way out. How much of a germaphobe are you...if at all?

I don't think you can be a big germaphobe and do home daycare at the same time. Now let me be clear, I clean constantly. Every surface (highchair, picnic table, diner table, toy boxes etc) gets wiped down with cleaner and sprayed with disenfectant each day. The pillows and blankets get washed each week and the toys are all cleaned on a regular basis. However, small children stick everything they touch in their mouths, sneeze all over everything, have boogers on their hands at any given time, lick the things they can't pick up(they are always licking my front door window and I don't know why!)and generally spreading germs wherever they go. I am a clean person, but if I was a germaphobe I would be screaming at people all the time.

I think you are right. I definitely couldn't do home daycare with my level of germaphobia. I don't think that I am as severe as some. I can shake hands without losing my lunch, or my mind. But, I still get bothered a little now when I am in public and I hear someone sneeze. And, it is always in the back of my mind now when I am in public that I am touching a bunch of stuff that others have wiped snot on! LOL! You are brave, in my eyes! I couldn't handle your job!

Haha I didn't even mention the fact that hardly a day goes by when someone does not vomit or poop on me!

I'm not that bad but i do always carry a bottle of purell in my purse because my daughter gets sick so easily, like in the public restrooms i use a paper towel to open the doors i'll use my foot to flush the toilet i wipe down my utensils before i eat on them at restaurants, i wipe the carts down before grocery shopping ill use a napkin when openin the freezer doors at the grocery stores because my daughter likes to hold my hands alot so i gotta make sure i dont give her any germs at all,but its jus so sad germs are that bad these days that they can make u so sick it doesnt make sense to me. but if people were more conscious about covering there mouths when they sneeze cough or yawn they no one would b as sick as they get. I totally agree with u on being a germaphobic

I agree! I have walked past a person in the grocery store, or just out in public, who sneezes or coughs as I past them and they didn't cover their mouth and nose! I am so disgusted by that! If I didn't just want to get away from the immediate area of their bad manners and the disease they just sent flying through the air around us with record breaking speeds, I would stop them and start lecturing to them about the right way to keep their germs to themselves. LOL!

LOL! I have antibacterial wipes everywhere I am! In my car, in the hubby's car, at my desk at work and other places that I have probably forgotten about! LOL! And, I keep the antibacterial foaming gel stuff on my desk at work too! I just have to be so careful because I get sick way too easily!

I have been told that I am a "germaphobe" by most of my friends. But, I am a bit different from you. I cannot stand human saliva or the thought of a mouth touching anything. I do not like touching the forks that people in my house use, their cups, sometimes their plates, being kissed on the cheek, sharing drinks, "taking a bite" of someone else's food (They are always like, "C'mon, it's delicious!" and I just cannot bring myself to eat what they have already been eating on).

LOL! Oh...you aren't the only one! Saliva really creeps me out too! Not to the extent that you are bothered by it but, enough that I am conscious of how much it bothers me! LOL!

I am more obsessed about it during the winter months than I am during the summer months because I get sick more in the winter than in the summer. But, since there is a summer cold that has been going around, I am working just as hard to keep everything sanitized now as I do during the winter. I am even still wiping down the handle and surrounding areas on the grocery cart with the sanitizing wipes that they keep available by where the carts are. LOL!
