I was not sure if I should put this under pizza, reading, or children. My son's school does the Book It! program from Pizza Hut. Every month from December to March the kids get a coupon for a free personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut if they read the required number of books. My son has accumulated 3 of them so far this school year. I think I am going to take him to get one of them today when he gets home from school. That is in about 15 minutes. Does your child's school do Book It? Did you have it when you were in school? I remember getting those coupons when I was a kid too.

I remember doing that in school. My daughter is doing it this year in preschool. Her preschool is in the elementary school. She doesn't have to read books obviously, they are going to ask them their phone number, abc's and to count to 10. If they can do all that then they will get one.

My sons school does bookIt but they only do it for one month our of the school year and they actually encourage the kids to read the books in and outside of the classroom. To me that is odd, my brother & I use to do book it, the paperwork was sent home through the school, but any reading we did was outside of school.

The school my daughter went to last year did the Book-it program. We moved over the summer and our new school does not participate. I think every school should do this program. It is a great incentive to get kids to read.

I love the book it program. I think it is great to get children reading, and a lot of fun. I remember doing it when I was a kid, and then seeing my nieces and nephews do it. They were always so proud when they earned their reward. I hope they are still doing it when my son is old enough, which is still 4 years away.

My little ones are too small to go to school yet, but I have a friend who's son school does it. He was in special classes as he has down syndrome, so instead of him reading the books, she had to read the books to him for at least 15 mins. a night, and then each month he recieves a coupon for a free pizza. I think this is an awesome program. It gives the kids something to shoot for and helps them develope the habit of reading.

My boys are in their 20s now, but the program was around then. I thought it was great! They loved to read anyway, and it was a good incentive to continue. They loved getting the coupons and felt like they were contributing when we went out for the pizza. I applaud Pizza Hut for this promotion. Love of reading is NEVER a bad thing! (unless one is reading nasty junk, of course).
