How come they still make computer ball mice? These things don't work at all. My brother just bought a brand new desk top and it came with one of these ball mouse. It doesn't work at all. I mean it feels like you are using a computer from the 60s. I am not kidding, if you are used to an optical mouse and try to use a ball mouse, it can make very frustrated.

Maybe the store just got that balled mouse in the package deal of purchasing new desk tops which your brother happened to have bought. They call it disposal sales wherein some stocks in the shop are obviously unsellable in retail n'or in whole sale so they get such items that are not quite well sold along with some new items, have them into package deals so that it goes away from their stock. Of course, customers could always insist on better items when they see items included in package deals that are not within their liking.

Ball mice work, but optical ones are sooo much better. If you keep ball and the internal rollers clean they work as well as optical ones. Some people (not me) actually like them better because there is some tactile feel to the mouse. You can feel the ball moving, or at least feel it catching on some dirt and lint and know it's time to clean it. haha. Honestly I still hate having to take pen to paper... talk about archaic...

Well, the newer computers no longer make any places to plug a computer ball mice. Now, I do not know what type of desktop your computer bought that came with a computer ball mice, but it sounds to me that the computer company ripped him off. I cannot think of any computer companies who sell brand new computer in the year of 2008 with computer ball mice. Most, if not all of them are optical mouses. -Feel Free to Disagree!

I know what you mean. Ball mouses can be frustrating to use but they are cheaper. I think that it's annoying having to constantly clean the lint and dirt inside the mouse too.

I agree. I could never go back to using a ball mouse after using my optical and laser mice. They still make them because there are people that still don't know any other mouse than that AND they are very cheap to manufacture. My advice would be to use it as a paperweight and buy a different mouse. Have fun!!

They usually ship with mouses with balls because it is cheap or the company selling it wants to down the price of the computer so they put in a cheap mouse and take of 20 bux
