Here's One of the Creations I Made ...

Sea Breeze Sea Glass Earrings - Three delicate pieces of sea glass in seafoam green, aqua blue, and a frosty clear, hang on a sterling silver post style earring.
This sea glass is smooth and beautifully frosted by nature's elements.
All pieces of sea glass used in this creation were found on the beaches of Hawaii.

...last night to put on Etsy during the airing of Etsy's segment on the Martha Stewart show. Hopefully my items don't get buried on the onslaught of listings that will probably occur on Friday. This creation is made with 3 pieces of beach glass on each earring (sterling silver post style earring) I have several more and I'll try to upload another tomorrow before the listing frenzy...lol

Oh your earrings are beautiful - do you hunt your own glass or do you have a supplier? I hope you get some good business as a result of the show.

That's interesting - I've seen sea glass before but never knew there was an actual association or even that there would be 'reproductions' but shouldn't be surprised. I don't live near the ocean but an 2 hour drive to Lake Michigan. I'm planning a trip there early spring to rock hunt - there are some very unique ones that wash up after the spring thaws and great for making jewelry and other items.

I'm sure you will come across some sea glass that has also washed up. I haven't bought mcuh from them, but there are some prominent sea glass sellers that find much of their gems on the banks of the Great Lakes. Now you have another item to look for when you go...you never know what the sea is going to offer up for you!

Why thank you! I do both. I hunt on the NJ shore, but unfortunately, many of the colors I like to use just don't appear on the beaches here. I do try to go atleast once or twice a month- all around specific dates that coincide with full moons- and in the warmer weather I'm there every weekend and quite often I'm on the beach 4- 5 times a week. When I can't find the pieces I desire, I have some reputable beach glass suppliers and I only purchase from those associated with the North American Sea Glass Association. Quite often when I do shows, I will see some sellers with several "beach glass" items and maybe 10% is actually beach glass, the other 90% is craft glass which often sells at about $1.50 per pound. Today went about the way I expected it to... about 30,000 sellers, all promoting and adding new items and it was hectic in the forums. I did pick up a custom order from another Etsy member, so it was worth the time spent. Thanks for your comments!

I didn't know Etsy had a million seller. Also didn't know Etsy was started by a male. I learned something today. Good luck to you, Robin.

Actually, I think 4 males designed the site and wrote the computer code for Etsy.com. I believe there is only approx 80,000 active shops. A member can be a buyer, seller or like me, alittle of both! When I joined Etsy back in August of 2007, there were less than 50,000 active shops.

Sea Breeze earrings - 2nd view of the these earrings. They will list later today on Etsy.
Why thank you. It seems Martha and her producers love ETSY and hopefully this will be just one of several segments featuring the site. I have a feeling there will be about 50,000 shops on Etsy with the same idea as myself. Things will be fast and furious and the potential buyers will become overwhelmed by the onslaught...lol Here's the lead picture of these earrings for the listing later today!

Those are beautiful earrings! Did you find the sea glass yourself, or purchase it somewhere? I hope you have lots of sales!

Why, thank you! I do search for beach glass, but I have to admit, those aren't pieces from the beaches in NJ. Those pieces came from one of my suppliers in Hawaii. I do have a couple similar pieces to the ones used, but it is very rare to find blue pieces where we are. With beach glass as smooth and rounded as the pieces used for this creation, it takes some serious rough surf, for many years to make them into jewelry quality pieces (if pieces like these were common in NJ, I'd be on the beach everyday, even in the winter!) Thanks again for the compliment and the comment!

Why thank you!! I'd like to buy these too, but since hubby is going to be manning the computer during the Martha Stewart, I can't sneak in and buy them w/o him knowing...lol In case anyone was wondering...these will list for $14 + shipping

Very nice! I tried beading for a little while a couple of years ago, but didn't do too much with it. I made two bracelets that I like pretty much, but never could quite get the hang of working with getting the clasps on right. Those really are very pretty. I love sea glass.

I'm also a sea glass fanatic, the hubby and I love when my sister offers to watch the boys for a few hours. We head to the beach (yes, in the middle of winter... see, I'm a fanatic!) and beachcomb for a couple of hours or until our faces are frozen and then head to a fave shop of ours for soup and a sandwich. I just love making jewelry for myself and I think with the exception of a pair of earring from my hubby, all my store-bought jewelry has been put away and I only wear what I've made. I get so many compliments on the items I've made compared to the store-bought and many people don't believe I made them myself...lol Thank you for your kind words!

Thank you!! Making jewelry is theraputic for me after a day at the JOB : ( I really love working with beach glass (and love looking for it too!) I have several pieces of jewelry made with beach glass and I always get amny compliments on them. They really "come to life" on a sunny day. I wish I could keep them all, but since I can't find enough jewlery quality pieces in NJ (because the surf isn't rough enough) I have to purchase some from suppliers on the West Coast. And that means I need to sell some to support my own little jewelry habit...lol Thanbks for your comment!

I love to make my own jewelry. I have huge collection of stones to make a nice set. I don't have much time to make some and will probably wait for better time. I like your set and hope you can sell it fast.

I really want to expand into gemstones and hope to find time to start experimenting. Between me and my hubby, we both used to know a lot about gemstones. "Used to" being the key words... lol I just bought a book to help identify gemstones and hope to purchase a small select amount soon. When I have time to experiment...I don't know. But I'd like to see what I can create with stones. Thanks for comments!

It was a very short segment. I think it's going to run again Monday night on her cable show. If the show is about Leap Year and frogs...then that's the episode!

its cool. is it heavy? very good taste in colors and in materials.

They are probably a bit heavier than the average post earrings, but really they are very comfortable. I have a pair that is similar to these and you only feel them for the first moment you put them on. I love the pair I have and really wanted to keep these for myself, but then again, I want to keep about 90% of the jewelry I make...lol Thanks for the response!

Those are so lovely! the colors are very appealing to the eye and I think the name is so appropriate, not only due to the fact that the glass has been weathered and worn by the sea but the colors - just make me think - the sea, the sky and the sand... it is almost poetic. great job!

I have a pair, similar in style but the colors are slightly different (cornflower blue, white and cobalt blue) and of course, I really would've like to have kept these. But I can't keep them all...lol I do get much of my inspiration from the ocean, the beach and the bay and the inspiration for this pair of earrings was similar to what you stated. Thanks for the compliment and for your response!
