i was wondering if anyone else system is fair unlike mine. where i live to get on assistants for food or anything you basically have to be making under 19,000. MY husband and i make around 42,000 annually together and that includes overtime that we have to work to at least try and survive. We have a family of five that we have to feed and take care of at home. our state system tells us that we make too much to be able to get assistants. but yet people that are driving better cars and living a better life than me are able to get assistants and i don't think that it's fair. Is yours the same way?

well yes and no. I will tell you a story of how the system works to a point in australia. My husband and I ment on the net. I went to Macedonia and lived there for a period of time and got married. We got the aplication form for him to come and live in Australia. On the form it said: to live in australia you will need to earn about $950 a week to live a comfortable life for a family of 3. So when we all came to australia (I had a small baby by then) I was told that if we earned more than $600 a week we cant get any help. I dont know anyone that can suport a family, pay off a house, pay the bills with $30.000 and be considered rich. Anyway. Now that my son is considered disabled I do get help (around $600 every 2 weeks) and I am gratful for that because there is no way I could get a job and take care of him.

i'm sorry to hear that about your son and the best of luck to you. But that just shows that you have to be in dyer need to be able to get assistants, becuase no one can survive off of making 30,000 a year

I forgot to say that 30000 is the most you can earn to get minimum help (which is about $100 every 2 weeks)

Well, the thing is you have to qualify to be at poverty level for such assistance. There is a state guideline then whatever you state sets. For a family of 5 poverty level is much less than what you make. I am sure even after they deduct certain things you pay out of pocked like rent, you probably still make too much. I know ho w you feel though. We are only a family of 3, make about what you do and things get tight. Our rent is $990 by itself.
