No offense to you or anyone who reads this. I personally that it is pointless to go confess your sins to some man. I mean who gave him the power to forgive us of our sins anyway?

I think every religion is different on this one. I'm not catholic, so my church doesn't have a priest, we have a minister. Also, in my religion we pray directly to God and ask for his forgiveness, and not rely on any priest to intercede for us and tell us what our payment for our 'sins' are...we leave the judgement up to God, not some man. God listens to all of his children and listens to prayers, as well as our prayers of forgiveness for others as well as ourselves. Like I said, every religion has different beliefs on these kinds of things, that's one of the reasons that there are so many different types of religions. My religion also doesn't say prayers to Mary or any of the other saints because we believe it when the bible says: to have no other Gods before me. Each person has to be respectful of each others religions, just because we don't believe in all of the same little things doesn't mean one religion is necessarily better than the other...it's more important that they DO believe there is a higher power than themselves than nitpicking on the small differences.

For those who feel the need to confess there sins to a man over there higher power then more power to them. For me I would rather go outside and sit in my yard and appologize to my higher power in person than through another. I dont see apoint in that at all.

we were never told by God to confess to a preist this is a man made rule made by the catholic church and is nowhere 9in scripture what jesus said is the following (Matt.6:6. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. )

I don't think you need to go to a church and be forgiven through a priest for your sins. After all, what did people do before there were churches and confessionals? What matters is that you are truly, deeply sorry for your sins and you work on changing and becoming a better, more loving human being.

Hi! in my point of view well it depends to where you belong. Catholic do that, others don't they do it directly to God. You can confess what ever form you want as long as you confess it to God and not doing it again asking forgiveness is very important to all of us. We must respect all peoples belief whether they are christian or not. Relationship to God is very important to man life, all of us has reason to believe or not to believe it's our choice, everyone of us has opinion and different view's in life. It doesn't matter.... how you confess your sin.... if you think you do the wrong thing then don't do it... Happy posting...

Based on my understanding of the bible,it teaches that if you commit a sin go directly to the offended person and ask for forgiveness. It did not teach you to go to the priest or the minister to ask for forgiveness.Paul has explained this to the Christians, with regard to the verse where it says whatever you forgive it is forgiven in heaven{that is Peter}.I think that is a verse doctored by the Vatican to instill fear on the minds of the faithful and abuse that verse to gain money. You see many early bible codes are kept secret in the Vatican, because they claim they are the descendant of the church that Jesus taught. In fact they are the enemy of Jesus because many of their teachings are against the bible.Peter can not be the first pope, because Jesus assign Peter to be the head of the Israeli church.Paul is assigned to be the head of the Gentiles, which is exactly where Rome belongs. This issue of the pafacy alone will crumble the stand of the Vatican.
