World Issues vs Life Issues

Do you feel that you are more inclined to post discussions and answer questions that provide answers for your personal life or do you seek out discussions in which you can debate world issues such as politics, religion, money etc.? Some people are more comfortable with counseling others, while some stay away from personal issues and seek conversations in which they can share their views on newsworthy items? Which one are you?

A little bit of both really, depends what are in my thoughts at the time of posting a discussion or if I feel I can add to a discussion in anyway. Ellie:D

hmm, i'm not too sure about this as i have not really been thinking about it you could say. i don't really go into world discussions as i don't really have much experience. i would go more to money though not much as well, and life i would say i guess. i would also go for posts that help me personally and those which i like. sometimes, if the newsworthy items are ones which i feel interested in, then i go for that too. grins seems like not many there huh. have a great day

I tend to answer to personal issues, sometimes may reply to news items, but not if it raises a debate in an area in which I am not knowledgeable.

I never constrain myself to a limited field.I just try to post whatever that comes to my mind if it is interesting.May they turn out to be personal or public by random nut not by intention.

I tend to go for discussions that provide answers for personal life or day to day personal issues as opposed to debatable discussions. I may answer one or two in general but other times I just read what others have to say and move on. I don't keep up with current events and often the religion discussions get out of hand. I like reading what others have to say about it though.

Gosh, I'm guilty of not even reading them. If I get a notification in my email that has a title relating to these issues, I skip it. Shame on me.

I actually like both but maybe I lean toward debating subjects then the personal. I do that only on days I have a lot of time to spare on myLot. Otherwise I stick to the personal discussions as I find I can answer them more quickly.

That makes sense. I don't think I see you very often in the personal issues so subjects which are debateable must be your forte.

I must admit that I am more attracted to answering posts that is more on personal issues. I am not so much interested especially in politics or celebrities. But on how we will survive on this world that is full of insanity.

There are people that thrive on debate and particularly on issues relating to world issues. I can't do it but I respect those that can.

I don't post many discussions myself but I respond a lot. There are issues in politics religion and world affairs such as the environment that interest me and I will respond. Sometimes I will respond to personal issues if I think I can contribute from experience and knowledge. I will not respond if the response entails giving a lot of personal information about myself.

I respond to mostly personal issues, I don't feel qualified to answer to politics, religion and world affairs. I don't educate myself enough and I should probably be more aware of what is going on around me.

I'm more into general life, I like sharing what I've experienced. Though I respond and post some that concerns about religion and politics, I seldom do that since I don't indulge in some of those sensitive topics. I'll just leave them to the experts, as I also prefer to debate in person and not on sites like this. I also prefer not to get involved in some personal dramas here, I believe that should be dealt personally. Who knows, maybe some of them are even made just to gain attention and sympathy here for their interest..

Some people may be trying to get attention, but it may be that they are lonely and this is the only place in their lives that they can receive the attention they need.

in the past i tend to respond more on a discussion covering life issues, maybe because it's easy to relate to one's life and so you can respond honestly to a discussion asking for an advice. it's just recently i realize that i tend to avoid discussions covering politics and economic issue which i should have paid attention too. now as much as possible when i search for a discussion to respond i try to look for a topic which is more sensitive and general to the world and political issues.

Some people feel comfortable in more than one area and thats good. Unfortunately I am not one of them. LOL.

I am more of the personal and life issues rather than on political issues. I find it hard to relate much on political debates most especially that we have different political situations around the world. But in life, it is much easier, since we almost have the same thing in common. We want to be successful, happy and perhaps we want to fulfill our dreams. In this aspect, it is easier to relate.

I'm into life issues. I'll leave the world issues to the politicians and people who are experienced in that area. I already have many personal life issue that I need to deal with. I'm already overwhelmed with things I see on TV, so I'm not interested in talking about Iraq or oil or wars. From time to time, I'd poke my nose into it and briefly get into discussions that involve world issues, but after that I'm back to life issues again. I try to stay away from discussions that involves religion and politics, because those are the ones that gets pretty heated. I do however, like to give my views on God, but in no way do I try to change anyone else's views on Him. It is up to them if they believe or not. And I don't even want to be begin about money.. all I can say is.. there's not enough of it.

I loved your last line about money. "There's not enough of it". That was quite funny. Thanks.

I happily initiate and respond to both. I sometimes find that what appears to be quite mundane posts can be developed into something quite deep, and those that start deep, go nowhere.

I may sometimes post some of my personal stuff but I enjoy religious topics a lot. I also like counselling people and I would feel bad if I know something that can help them but for some reason, I wasn't able to tell them about it. So, as much as possible, I visit mylot as often as I can.

I think most people like to feel that they can help their neighbor, even if its in a small way.

I guess this is directed at people who are not on your friend list as I assume you sort of know us. Welcome back. I'm a bit more likely to feel more comfortable answering whatever people on my friend list post, unless I start to think they are taking my cyber-friendship/buddy bit for granted and then they might notice me tapering off. Almost all of the discussions on here are interesting to me except the ones on religion and politics, as those tend to turn intolerant and sometimes a bit ugly. But the ones I like best are those where many of the participants interact with each other and even with information given in other discussions, because many of the people not only start interesting discussions but also reciprocate by commenting on one another's discussions.

I did not necessarily direct it at people that weren't on my friends list, because I've noticed through my boyfriend who engages in political debates that there are some people who are posting in both areas. Thank you for welcoming me back. Glad to be back.

I think many people feel that way, but then there are those who think the personal issues are silly.

Bet you can't guess which catagory I belong in lol. I would have to say I am the one who goes for the life issues, I am sensitive like that*wink*. Plus I often do not feel I am knowledgable enough to debate politics, although the news I will discuss that and do.

I understand that and I would say that I am inclined to answer to more personal issues also. I'm like you I don't feel qualified enough to debate worldwide issues.

Well .. I would have to say that I am better debating personal issues over world issues. The reason being is that I know more about myself and am a very open person .. As opposed to knowing a whole lot about the world. Don't get me wrong though, I know a lot about what is going on in the world and what not but to answer your question I would still have to say answering personal questions is a bit easier for me than answering questions on politics and what not. By the way, I'm currently taking a class right now called "Canadian and World Issues: A Geographical Perspective" and it's very interesting in what we learn! :)
