Sony's Blu-Ray won the hi-def format war. Last week Toshiba, developer of the HD DVD format tossed in the towel. The days of befuddlement and wondering which type of hi-def player to buy are now apparently over.

Glad to hear it. My friend first bought an HD player because they had more of his favorite movies on HD then Blu-Ray. Then when he realized the tide was turning in favor of Blu-Ray, he sold his HD player and bought a PS3. At least now people know what to buy when updating their entertainment systems.

Hmmm. I will stay with the DVD drive until the Blu-Ray comes down very far in price. I'm cheap!

We have an HD DVD player and a Ps3. I have watched HD and Blu-Ray DVDs and honestly cannot tell the difference between the two. But then again, I am happy watching just regular 'ol DVDs lol. My husband is the tech-savvy one in our house. He thinks he has to have all of the new gadgets :D.

I am very happy with the old DVD's. I will wait until they start getting scarce on the the ground before I am forced to upgrade. Or there is another compelling reason to upgrade, such as a serious quality difference like there is between video tape and DVD. I don't see the quality difference there between Blue-Ray and DVD MP4. Blu-Ray's are also very delicate, one scratch can ruin them.
