I need to drag my butt out to walk - PLEASE help motivate me!

So I'm not needing to lose weight, I'm not unhealthy. I just need some motivation to get up and GO FOR A WALK. I used to powerwalk most days, but since my car accident 4 months ago, I've been pretty laid up. Now, I'm feeling so much better, but just cannot get into the routine of going out and doing my walk! To make matters worse, I used to walk my neighbors dog which we both loved; but my neighbor has moved, so there's no more dog to walk. Any suggestions on how to get myself motivated again? I've forced myself to go out, but it's just working!

Well, I live in a beautiful neighborhood with a large park, so for me the walk is as much a reward and incentive to motivate me as it is the action I need to be motivated for. You could always try placing an incentive at the end of your walk, such as walking to a coffee shop or convenience store, and reward yourself for the effort once you get there.

I wish I had some way to motivate you - maybe it would also motivate me! I do need to lose some weight and I need the exercise. I enjoy walking, too, just not down a sidewalk. Maybe if you could find someone to walk with, it would help?

Yeah, I'd like to walk with someone, but most people I know here live on the other side of town or are working when I'd be able to walk. The dog used to motivate me to walk at different place (mostly because of the added safety,) and I really miss walking him. He would get so excited anytime I'd come, I'd almost feel bad if I didn't walk him that day. I've been asking my hubbie for a puppy, but he says we have to have a yard before we have a puppy, but the house is still a few years away.

Maybe you could find another dog to walk? If you put out the word, maybe some of your neighbors would like to have you walk theirs.

Walk in different places. I got tired of going to the park and walking the same trails, so I started driving to different places to walk, including in town. A lot of people don't like to walk on sidewalks, but some places with sidewalks are lovely to walk in. Just going somewhere different gives you a different perspective. It made a lot of difference for me.
