my sister is down with chicken pox since the past five days and is feeling quite miserable about it. Actually, she came down on vaccation, but was unfortunate to contract it on the very third day itself. is there any specific diet to be followed during this period? we are restricting her salt intake and giving her lots of green gram, shallots, curd, milk, raw vegetables and fruits. she is quite scared about the marks that will be left behind. is there any effective way to get rid of them? How long does she have to be in quarantine? at what stage does the disease spread? is it true that chicken pox affects only once in our life time??? if anybody out there knows the answers to any of these questions, please do reply. we are really anxious to know the answers

well chicken pox lasted for a week, there are medical treatment for that. the meds will dry the looks like blister in days. consult a physician for medical advise. and yes, only once the chx pox will come out, after that its good as new. one more thing, dont scratch the infected area so that it will not leave any mark.

Hi there! I don't think you can cure chickenpox but I'm not really sure. It's been nine years since I had chickenpox and I'm not sure if they've found a cure to it. I was told not to eat fried food especially chicken and egg. I think it causes more to come out. About the marks, there are creams for scars that works great especially if the scars are still fresh. It's true that you'll only have it once. I think she should stay inside her room until she's fully well. It is believed that it's more contagious when it's nearly healing.
