Taking the Fun out of Soccer (Advice Please!)

Even though throughout my life we've had troubles with money and other such things, soccer has always been apart of my life. Right now, my sister is a junior at a highschool, and she's played soccer for basically her whole life. When she was a bit younger than I am now, she wanted to join a traveling competetive team, but we couldn't afford it or manage the rides. Now in highschool, her coach is allowing freshmen from the local soccer club to join varsity even though he promised her last year that if she played JV last year, that she'd be on varsity this year. He told one of her friends to tell her and her other friend that is going through this same ordeal that if they tried out for varsity this year, they'd be put on JV or cut, and if they tried again next year, they'd be cut. I want to know how much of this he can actually do, because it's not like my sister is a bad player. She's not the amazing prodigy, but she's really skilled, so it's not like she can't make varsity. Also, if anyone can give me any advice on what I can do about this, then I'd really appreciate it. The thing is, I've played for this club now for 1 season, and I've already started my second. I feel really bad about this since I'm apart of the club, and I really want to help her out with this. She loves soccer, and she's really bummed out about this. Thanks =D
