Would this alarm clock wake you up?

The sun alarm clock! - sun alarm clock

What it claims to do is gently nudge you awake by gradually increasing the intensity of its built-in light, designed to mimic a sunrise. You can set your fake sun to rise over 15, 30, 60, 90 or 120 minutes. And if you’re a deep sleeper you can end your sun rise cycle with the back-up beeper, radio or strobe light. The maker claims that waking up to light resets your internal clock, making it easier to rise on subsequent mornings. Personally, I don't think this would wake me up if I wasn't ready to get up. What do you think? Would it work for you? Check out the whole story at: http://doesitwork.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2008/02/28/703851.aspx Experts have some pretty good pros and cons on this alarm clock.

I would definitely have to be ready to wake up, but I think it would work for me because I am very sensitive to light especially in the mornings. I prefer someone tell me before they turn the light on. It would also probably annoy me and make me get up on the wrong side of the bed, as they say. LOL

I'm the same way! Anyone who turns a light on while I'm sleeping better be a fast runner!!!

I have never used an alarm clock in my life. I have a natural alarm clock that manages to wake me up in time. My wife is better than an alarm clock. If I don't manage to get up with her first call, secondly I cannot miss her second, because her yells will wake up half our neighbourhood :)

I hate having to be shocked awake by a loud alarm clock! The digital one I have has a radio controlled mechanism, which is great cos it's always accurate and I don't need to change it for daylight savings..it starts off with single soft beeeps, then about every 30 seconds adds a beep and gets slightly louder til it's beeping 2x a second at full volume..this one might be good too,but the model I saw like this one a while back was quite expensive!

I doubt it would. I'd probably just sleep right though it. I have found that I need a moderately noisy one and out of arms reach to keep me from shutting it off and going back to sleep. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

It might be nice, although I much more prefer the desert/Texas sun sets! But I have a song on my cell phone, seldom use the phone but always use the alarm! And it rings with the song "Thank God for Kids", starts quiet and intensifies. No better way to wake than thinking of my kids!

I don't know. I think it would depend on how good of a nights sleep I have gotten. If I'd slept ok it might wake me up. If not who knows.

No it wouldn't wake me. Light doesn't wake me, sound does.My alarm clock is set to wake me with music from the radio.

I guess it might work if I was facing the bright light but if not I am sure I could sleep through it. As for the radio, I have to have mine on full blast, if I sleep on my left side a bomb could go off and I don't hear it..I am deaf in that ear.

Oh to have a job where I could wake up during the sunrise work until supper time and stay up until sunset. We're moving our bedroom from the West to the East so that we can see a sunrise. Yes this would wake me up, way better than sound. I love sunrises and sunsets.

I doubt that this alarm clock will work for me because I am a deep sleeper. I can even sleep in the afternoon when the sunlight is directly shining through my window. When it gets too bright I would just pull the blanket over my head. Even my loud alarm clock has little effect on me. I had to place it far from my bed or I would just turn it off and go to sleep. Sometimes I do it without realising it. And when I am very tired, I can even sleep on the chair as soon as I sit down.

I think it would work for me, but don't know for sure. I do know that when my husband turns on the light in our bedroom it wakes me up almost instantly. I get so mad at him sometimes for turning on the light. And once I wake up I can't go back to sleep and since he gets up at 4:30am , for work, I don't like it. I think my brother needs one of these clocks because his alarm can go off for hours without him waking up and hearing it. He lives upstairs of my mom's house, it's a duplex, and it wakes up my mom and she usually has to go upstairs to wake him up. So I think I may suggest this clock to him, it might help him to wake up.

The basic concept sounds good enough due to its discrete nature but but the fact remains that sleep is an important part of life. None would love to prioritise anything else over sleep.Everyone wants to sleep comfortably and wake up with ease as well.Atleast i would not want to open my eyes early morning with an irritated gesture and cribbing on this clock. Rather i would prefer looking for other less irritating means of alarm.

I am a light sleeper and I have an internal clock that wakes me up around three, and six so that I can go to the washroom. I then wake up between seven and seven thirty to get up for the day. But I know some people that the only way to wake them up is to have a nuclear explosion right outside their bedroom window. I am afraid the scientists made a boo boo in this one. It would not work on me, I would be up already, and it would not work on a sound sleeper. Get back to the drawing board, you guys. :)

It might work - initially. But soon, I will get used to it and it won't work anymore. Here, check out this link for 18 real cute alarm clocks - http://www.plazarugs.com/rug -alarm/ . I can paste everything here but it is easier if you just go see the link yourself since it comes with pictures.;)

I don't think it would work for me. I might wake up, but I'll just turn it off and go back to sleep, just like what I do with a normal alarm clock. hehe. But it does look good, like a space ship on a night stand. hehe. And probably much heavier than a normal alarm clock. Really would make it difficult to throw it once we get annoyed. ^_^

Yes it would probably wake me up. Usually during an Alarm clock, I just push the button whatever is making the noise haha... then fall back to sleep mode. Usually my dad would wake me up by turning on the light. Although I think it would wake me up, it had to be pretty close to me though so I think it's pretty useless...

uhhh... i seriously doubt that would work for me. I am a mother of a 2 year old and a 3 year old who don't sleep through the nite cause we just moved and they're not used to the new environment yet, so i cherish what little sleep. even though i am a pretty light sleeper a doubt that would work for me. i get up before daylight every day anyway.
