Another nice drive. NOT!

Outside the hotel window - Not bad looking at this point of time. A few hours later their was snow, rain, sleet, and fog making the driving horrendous.

Okay as most my friends here know I get free rooms etc from Mystic Lake Casino and Hotel. I use them every chance I can as well. But now the last 4 or 5 times we went there we seemed to hit lousy weather one way or another. This past Thursday the drive there was fine. My wife had to work so I had to pick her up at 10 p.m. when she got off work. I dropped her off at work at 11 then drove the 25 miles to check in. I saw a little bit then exercised a LOT. I biked a total of 11 miles and walked a total of 5 miles on their machines. Then the whirpool and sauna. then showered then gambled till I had to get the wife. I looked out the hotel window before I showered to see light snow and fog which did not concern me as I had a couple hours before I had to leave to get the wife from her job. Then later that evening I was stunned at the road conditions as the valet brought my car to me. A normal 20 minute drive took nearly an hour. There was snow, sleet, freezing rain and fog to contend with. That sucked. saw many accidents along the way. On the way from her work back to the casino the salt trucks had been out finally and the roads were half way decent. No accidents or mishaps for my drive thankfully. Have you ever gone somewhere then left to find terrible driving conditions? But you could not turn back as it was a basic had to get somewhere thing? This is a shot from my hotle window of the golf course a couple hours before I left to get my wife. There's light snow falling and a little bit of fog at this time only. I had a near experience once Grandpa Bob. I went to visit some friends who lived in another city. I had to travel overnight through boat to get there. When we got to the city, my friends planned a lot of outings for us and one of them is a visit to the largest geothermal plant in the world which is just located right in the mountains. So we went to the mountains and had some sight seeing and we oohhhed and ahhhed on the waters that we passed which could boil an egg and with steam around them. After that we proceeded further to visit a protected twin lake. I was mesmerized by natures beauty there which is still unspoiled by developments. We took a raft to the middle of the lake and spent so much time there just relaxing, talking and eating and appreciating nature. It was so quiet and s peaceful there that I wanted to stay as long as we could. As it was, we overstayed up to 4pm and on our descent or drive back to the city, the fog was already so thick that we could barely see. I was really afraid because there are deep ravines and the road was really rough. Thankfully, we got to the city unscathed and though I vowed to return to the lake, I would never overstay and risk accident again.

Glad to know the bad weather didn't stop you going back to the casino AGB! I'm glad you got there safe though, I know how scary driving in those conditions can be! I remember one winter driving over the Fenwick Moors, the snow was bad but it just got worse all the way along! By the time I was halfway over you couldn't tell where the edge of the road was and the worst bit is that there is more than a 6ft drop off the sides in some parts of the road! The road was closed just after I got onto it but I didn't know that and I had no choice but to carry on driving very slowly and carefully! I was so relieved when I got to the other end of the road I can tell you - the scariest experience ever! xxx

When I first started senior college in Hattiesburg MS it was January and we had snow on the road. We don't get too much snow and I had never driven on snow before. I was nervous enough about going away to college and then the snow just made it worse but I made it fine . Once I got on the highway it was mostly cleared off the road.
