Amway training audios are so funny!

I recently aquired some old Amway training audio and they are so funny! They consist of people applauding for themselves, saying how much money they are making and what a better life they have now that they are in Amway. There is little or nothing on products, service or how to make the customer happy. I wonder if that is the reason why the Amway/Quixtar people I ran into were so pushy and overbearing. They were trained to think of only themselves! Any former Amway people out there care to share?

Good grief are they still around? I thought somehow Amway had played itself out. You are right the focus is not on the products or service. They just have to have that in order to be legal. The real purpose is to recruit more people under you, that is how you make your money. So in effect product or no product it is a pyramid scheme. I was approached years ago but did not look at the videos that they left me. I just gave them back when the people who approached me came back. I just said I was not interested.

Yeah, they're still around. I don't live too far from the headquarters. They had changed their name and then eventually changed it back to Amway. They also have an online part with another name. I don't run into so many people trying to push me to join anymore -- which is nice.

Ohh, I'm not into it but a friend of mine is. I don't know if they are making good money with it. I have not seen some evidence yet.
Well, in any venture if they work hard for it, they will really earn with it. It all depends on the person.
I have the AMWAY audios but I haven't set a time for it too. If i got some good hints, well and good. I can use it for my own business but not to involve myself with AMWAY. I can't sail many rivers in one single time.
Good Luck to those who are doing well with AMWAY. Our destiny all depends on the amount of time each one is willing to give for something.

You know someone that is still in it? I am sure, if they are like the audio trainings say and the people I run into do, they don't say it is Amway until the very end of the presentation. I would love to ask him/her some questions about their adventures!
Are you part of any network marketing company? Have any other experience? For me, I have see a lot of different presentations. Very interesting styles from one to another!

Yes, I know a friend who is into it. I just recalled it today. I have to admit, i didn't know it's AMWAY until the whole presentation was almost over. They seem to be motivational speakers who speak about good qualities but never spoke of the products and the company. It was spoken only at the end of the seminar or function. Well, maybe that is how they were thought to introduce their company and their product. It's also their way of getting people into their company.
Well, I can only sail with one boat, I am into Avon. The approach is different. Before anything else, we welcome them and invite them to the Avon family. So far, I'm earning good at it.

I have heard alot about Avon and they have a good reputation. My wife and I are with Shaklee and have been for some time. I can't imagine inviting someone to a presentation and not telling them until the end what it was! Can you imagine the hard feelings there would be if that happened to you? I would never talk to that person again for the mistrust and the deceivement! If you can't be proud of your company or your products...what do you really have?

i ever seen the amway presentation. you might say thats a funny thing seems people applauding for themselves by watching audios. but when you attended in them live, you would know how would the feel be. on the first time it seems ridiculous to do that till i realize that there is an effect for our ownself. its like motivating your own self and doing better things. the atmosphere would make you feel that you able to sell any quantity of their product. its really good marketing, in my opinion. unfortunatelly i am not interesting in marketing world :)

the number in the bracket shows about our posting amount in responding another topic discussion. if you go to my profile, you would realize that i am already in mylot for more than 1 years and i still love to be in here. i was not too active in the previous time so that my posting points only has about 1500 points. my friends who already in here for more than one years as same as like me already made more than 10000 points :P . in briefly, one response posted by you would count as one point in your bracket :)

I think marketing is something that we do all the time without thinking about it. We market ideas to our friends, convince our family so-and-so is the best thing for us, etc. You'd be amazed how serious a network marketing company can grow on you once you find one that you are comfortable with and has products/services you are excited about!
I just noticed you have the number 1564 next to you screen name. Isn't that the number of enteries you put in? How did you get such high number? I know there is something about a 100 and 500 score something. Can you explain this to me?

Wow! I need to do some heavy responding if I were to catch up to you. I don't even remember when I actually signed up for Mylot but, as I was going through some old emails, I found the link and here I am! It is really sweet to be able to meet and chat with people all over the world and get their ideas on things and see what life is like.
Isn't there a plus to getting 500 points...the ability to copy and paste or something? Do you get more for getting higher in the points?

A co-worker of mine was involved in Quixtar and invited me to one of their seminars at a local conference center one evening. Basically, it was the team leader giving his team members a motivational speech. He and his wife really played to role to. Had a limo bring him up, he and his wife decked out in armani clothes and rolex watches. His team was really pumped up.
I'm sure the products are good but you have to buy so much and I'm not into programs that require you to buy more than you need. I believe that's the downside of nearly all MLM type programs that require you purchase to maintain membership.

Yeah the whole thing was hilarious to me. It was like a cult convention or something. I lost interest after about 5 minutes and was ready to go. Quick Tip: If you're ever invited to function like that, always say you're meet them there instead of letting them give you a ride. That way, you can leave when YOU'RE ready!
Cheers,
Ed

That is a bit of trick for them to take you there. I learned very quickly, having a car there and not being parked in has it's value! How do they qualify the idea of tricking someone to come? Do they think that showing the program is going convince them that this company is the way to go before they tell them the name of it? Have I mentioned 'the Team' in our chats? Hmm. Made it pretty easy to change the name until someone figured out what it really was!
Trick someone to get in your need to teach them to trick others to get others in. Sounds like a trick the devil uses on a daily basis to me!

I wonder where they would think coming up in a limo would impress people? It is just so much like the audios I heard...here's what you do, here's how you dress, etc. Unreal. I would have loved to be there to have seen the show! I am sure they had to put all that on their credit cards and return the clothes when the show was over.
Are you part of a network marketing company?
After some interesting experinces I am part of the Shaklee family www.shaklee.net/besthealth and the idea of showing up in a limo is very stupid. The focus on the person you're talking too, their need and what products may work for them. 100% money back. no questions. Our organic cleaners where on Oprah three times last year.
Any experiences to share about network marketing? Ever consider joining one if you are not part of one now?

That sounds... interesting.
I have not watched any Amway videos myself so I can't really comment.
But I guess their focus is not on the products - more on selling.

I set I got my hands on are actually amway audios (cassette tapes) and not videos. But I sure, if they are the same caliber I am sure they are pretty entertaining too. It is funny how many people have stories to share about this topic. Do you have any network marketing experience?

yes, i tried amway about three times and shaklee two or more..but i had many reason to fail..the goals set up is basic...you sign up people and blah blah you get rich..but I found out it takes over 200 people that you have to sign up under you to get maybe ...maybe..one good one? this is just data I picked up but i think it is true as a lot of people I know who were hard working couples (couples were the best as they worked as a team to sign up other couples mono on mono? )
i seen a lot of time spent on endless meetings and buying demo products and you have to pay for everything..even the literature was not free..and getting a lot of telephone calls from you UPSTREAM trying to shake you up..and you were expected to do a lot of work but they made it seem like fun..yeah..ok
sorry, you made me remember this stuff..but I still run into these same dealers and when I try to explain that its all about signing people up and that is not that easy and other negative stuff they suddenly get lost..lol..or avoid the truth?
I guess we all would like to get rich somehow...if it was that easy..why would anyone work in the Amway plant in Ada, Michigan..as I took the tour and the workers there in the plant are always ask this..the answer? someone has to make the product...yeah..i will give up being rich because I want to be a factory rat..lol..i was a factory rat for 28 years..lol..so i am sill not rich..but who is/?

Owning a business is a state of mind that not too many people want to accept or don't have the talent for. Network marketing is a specialized area of the business field that is required a certain skill to become successful at. Not all people are mechanics but pretty much anyone can check the oil on their car.
I compare my network marketing business is something that I do to give myself leverage over time. Kinda like this place, myLot. Imagine. A place you can make money (by posting) but make even more by recruiting others! Hmm. Sounds like you're doing it right now! Are you rich yet? Keeping up the pattern over time, could you be?

Trying to change a persons buying habit is a very hard thing to do. I was in Quixtar for a short time but my sponsor wasn't supportive. I think the problem lies in there's no personal training only tapes and books believe me I spent a small fortune on all the tapes. Now I'm in MyPowerMall and again I have 6 people signed up but no one's buying anything. Not even me anymore. Times are tough and have to shop around for bargains. I need money now to pay my bills I can't wait 20 years for my downline to be built big enough to support me.

I had been involved with a similar company several years ago called Trek Alliance. They mainly sold water purifiers and non-FDA-regulated vitamin supplements. The company was sued in late-2005 and agreed to give refunds to its distributors as part of a settlement. Unfortunately, the company had only agreed to set aside $600,000 for refunds, and there were tons of people seeking them. The amount I spent on company products and fees totaled more than $4,200, and my refund was just over $200.
When looking for a work-at-home job, never pursue anything that requires the purchase of inventory. Also, steer clear of the "Aussie 2-Ups," or programs which give your first two sales to your sponsor/upline before you can get paid.

I thought I ran into something about Trek on the internet. Sounds like the distributors got that worst of that deal! What was it that could you interest in that company? The product? The comp plan? The support? How involved/serious were you about your Trek business?
I was part of a company that did the 2 ups thing. It was a sham too! It was called World Connect Communications and it offered Nextell and Dish Network and other telecom. Got promised the world and got nothing back ever.
I found a company I like and having success with. I do have a small inventory but it serves its purpose incase someone needs something right away or I know there is a show coming up.
Are you part of a network company now? Would you ever consider joining another one?

It is funny to hear that they recruited you under the sounds of dance music and the thoughts easy business. How ever you get someone to sign up is the same way you need to keep them going. If you run under the Amway 'you can be rich like me' banner you will need to continously run that play to keep them in. They used a lot of loud music and dancing in a company called world connect communications I was once in (how exciting is dish network and nextel phone, really?)
I teach my downline to ask alot of questions and find out where a new person is and what they are thinking. If they want to learn more they will. If they want to join they will. Share, educate, illustrate and let them make the final choice.
I guess I would not make a very good amway person or even a used car salesmen.
Did you have a large downline? Have you ever considered getting back into network marketing?

The two main things that attracted me were the comp plan and the products. I figured they would sell well because lots of people want healthy bodies and clean water. The people running the local office made it seem like a paradise, playing dance music and telling us we can have fun while signing up new members. When asked if the company was a pyramid like Amway, they said it was, but they told us most companies are that way with the people on top profiting from the work of the people on the bottom. It was that amount of BS and smokescreens that led me to sign up.

The products I've used were good, but I think the sales people must make more money from their downlines than from selling products. Every one of them I've run into has been very pushy trying to get me to join. The whole time, they talk about money and how rich someone in their upline is or what type of car they just bought... but say almost nothing about the products. Sounds like my real-life experiences are almost like the training material you heard.

It is very different from one company to another. I was part of World Connect Communication (they offered Nextel and Dish Network) and my upline promised me the world and everything they would do for me. All they did was..hmm..nothing!
I gave up on that for serveral years and thought it was all a scam until my wife brought some literature and sample products from a Shaklee person. Since they I have been sold on it and love the idea I don't have to be pushy to be successful. What is the person looking for? How can I fulfill that need?
Are you part of a network marketing company? Have any stories to tell?
