I haven't personally driven one. But seen many motorists pass by. Do you think it takes extra skills to drive motorcycles? They seem very swift and cool :)

Speaking as someone who used to own a motorcycle as my sole means of transportation I can safely say that yes they are safe and no they are not. The most dangerous thing for a motorcyclist is the other drivers in cars who don't look for them. People seem to look for cars and pedestrians but often just don't see people on motorcycles. The other inherent danger to motorcyclists is that there is little protection, nothing between you and the pavement. There is also the balance issue; meaning hitting something like a pot hole or some debris on the road and you can wipeout. Plus dogs love to chase you. If a person is cautious and practices defensive driving they should be okay. But yes driving a motorcycle is much more dangerous than driving a car.

No I do not because there's nothing around the person for protection like there is when in a car. Also because others will "test" your skill to see how good or fast you can stop. It's not right but true in one of the ways people tend to be really cruel.
