... in a language other than your native tongue? A lot of the mylotters here are quite fluent in more than one language - do you always dream in your first language or do you sometimes dream in a second language?

Most of my dreams are in my native language which is actually in Filipino. However, there are occasions that I dreamed using the English language. What I have noticed that my language would tend to depend on who are the people in my dream. If the people in my dreams are my friends or family whom I speak in the native language then we spoke the native language. When my dream involves some other places or people that I have met where we used the English language, then in my dream we used the said language.

Usually there is no language being spoken..I just understand what the other person said...It just feels like I had heard it in English even though my mother tongue is something else.

When I was learning Arabic I would count in Arabic but not have a full dream in it... I don't speak it that well... I will have to ask my wife about that one... she is trilingual so you just made me curious! Thanks Zelo

I dream in all the languages I know. But the thing is, dreams don't usually have sounds. Sometimes, you just "know" when you are in the dream and meanings are conveyed without words. But when words are involved, it's usually English for me.

I find that interesting, you are the second to mention that it is just a sense that of words - do the characters in your dreams move their lips?

I can remember speaking French once in a dream and I seemed to be speaking it fluently. I am not fluent in French but I can understand and speak a little. I do know people whose first language is not English but they live in England and sometimes they do dream in English because they use it everyday.

I dream every day and it's very tiring... Most of the time, i also can't recall my dreams. When i do, it simply fulfills a saying, "Action speaks louder than words." More than often, it's like switching on the TV but not the volume. :) Sometimes, when the volume is on,it will be on my first language. Defintely not in some languge that i do not know at all.
