Pros and Cons of Compensating a Surrogate

Can you think of any pros and cons for compensating a surrogate? These pros and cons for both the surrogate and an intended parent...

I think the best surrogate would be a family member or close friend that might not require as much compensation other than the fact that they are glad to help out and bring a child into the world for someone they love. You couldn't pay me enough to do it, had too much trouble having my own!

The pros for the intended parent- You get a child that you cant get otherwise. The pros for the surogate mother- you get a good lump some to have this child. The cons for the intended parent- It will take a huge amount to have a child. but really if you want a child it should be worth it. The cons for the surogate mother- carrying a baby, giving birth then having to give the child up. I know this is a little more then just compensating but I was going to be a surogate mother once.
