Should I give up my dream?

I really really want to have my own makeup artistry service. Problem is, I've just accepted a job that is all after hours/emergency hours so my weekends are spent either working or sleeping. I completed a makeup course and was planning on specialising in bridal makeup artistry but never got round to it. Now that I'm all keen to start the business up I learn that I'm working weekends, when most weddings take place. I'm thinking perhaps I can do friends and friends of friends for a cheaper price and perhaps do school formals, although they only take place once a year.. and probably on weekends too. Does anyone have any ideas on how I canmake extra money doing makeup whilst also working these crazy hours?

well..how much do u like ur current job..if u don't like it, i think it's better to focus on ur dream. Or you can switch ur full-time job to a psrt-time..so u can do ur current job, while being a make-up artist.. When do u work? nights? Then u should run ur make-up business noon until evening..dividing ur time effectively may be a solution..hope it helped! =D

This is prime time for Prom, start there. You can do that though your friends and what not. Hopefully eventually you can get this off the ground. Depending upon where you live couldn't you offer your services to studios? For less money you should be able to get ahead. Ainge

Never give up a Dream! Thats what dreams are for. Hold it in your heart, cherish it, dream about it, and believe in it! And you know what? It Will Happen in your Life. Thats a guarantee! Some parts of your life are not intended to happen right now. You have a lot of years ahead. When you're young you have other duties to attend to. Then later, when you have the time, your Dream will Pop up in your life and Come True For You! "Nothing is as real as a Dream, The world can change around you but nothing can take it away"-old saying

My friend is in the same exact position as yours. Working on weekends, but also doing make up for friends. I would say doing make up for friends is better at first and then they can tell others, because word of mouth marketing is a very powerful ones and you can get lots of clients for that. If you have gain enough experience, enough client and enough money, then take the risk of quitting your weekend job (or get another job that works in normal hours) and then start up your business for the weekends.

That is the worst thing you could ever do is give up on your dreams. Even if it is impossible. You could get another job you like that does not take all your time, and has good benifits and you might learn things you have never known you will go far in life. The one thing you should never do is let those dreams get away. good luck

just keep at it and do not put down your price so much. be good at it during the weekends and market yourself higher and this would put up your price on the market. tie up yourself with events coordinators specially those involve in wedding events. have a good photographer take artistic/magazine like photos of your subjects.marketing is the key.

Don't give up your dream. All I can think of is have your clients come in during the week , like on Thursday or Friday, show them how to do their makeup and then they can duplicate it on the day.I picked Thursday or Friday, they are the closest to D-day , Saturday. You could have a prom makeup pop quiz on the Friday before prom.

i dont think that anyone should ever give up their dream. wait a few weeks to see how your schedule is and then go from there...you can still do stuff on the side...i do!

Never give up on your dream. If you can dream it then you can believe it. If you can believe it then you can achieve it. I am an aspiring actress and I have been hungry for it the past 7 years. But due to my financial situation, I cant just afford to quit my day job just yet. But in the meantime I just continue to strive and try to catch auditions on the weekend. There is money in the make up field. A lot of movie sets are always looking for make up artist. Also contact one of your local photographer and ask them to let you do their make up for them. Get your feet wet!! Keep on dreaming!!!

First and for most do not ever give up on your dreams. And if it is something that you want to do bad enough you will find the time to do so. GOOD LUCK.
