I have witnessed something today...

While my boyfriend and I were parked near the school where I work, we heard sirens nearby. We turned around to see two young boys, probably 16 or 17 years old running towards where we were parked. Several meters away from them were policemen and a civilian operative who were on motorbikes. The taller boy threw something which looked like a blue bandana. The civilian operative ran after the smaller boy who was about to turn around and run the other direction. The civilian operative was fast enough to catch the smaller boy. The rest of the policemen ran after the taller boy and they almost lost him. But they were able to corner him. Then came another young boy who threw the taller boy a punch on the face. The policemen were now busy trying to stop the two boys from a fist fight. One of the policeman asked the taller boy where he threw what he was holding earlier. One of the witnesses pointed to the flower box nearby. When they got what I thought was just a blue bandana turned out to be a blue bandana with a 32 revolver. The other young boy started telling the policemen that that was the gun that was pointed to him by the taller boy. Well, I couldn't recall the rest of their discussion... Anyway, this is not the first time I have witnessed something like this but still, it is very disturbing. More and more youngsters are getting into this kind of trouble. One of the problems our city has right now is the increasing incidence of gang wars and those who are often involved are young lads aged 15 to 18. Very disturbing don't you think?

Oh my gosh! Am sorry to ask but, I thought these crime related scenes are only seen in poor and develpoing countries? Honestly, I have witnessed full grown men and shaggly dressed street boys do such actions but not decent teeneger! This is indeed a very disturbing scenerio. Where did they get this revolver from? Maybe from dad's closet! Parents should be very careful when it comes to such gadgets......they shld be kept even saves in banks.

Quite commonplace now unfortunatley. If kids grow up and see what appears to be succsesful people who have lots of money, cars, women they will imitate. you could blame the media, values, governments. Rap music generally encorages violence (Just listen to get rich or die Tryin by fifty cent) in a acceptable package. I like rap music but media companies are selling 'Gangstrism' whole sale!!!!

i think it has something like routine activity for today's world. in any place there can be shootings, killings at random. I do not know why the world has gone crazy like this.it is a real horror i think.Revolvers are here and there and people shot others for no reasons!

It is very disturbing that there is a increased activity of gang violence and gangs in general. I think if we had more to offer our teens to do with their time or if the parents who both have to work have some activity to sign there child up to that was a reasonable fee that everyone could afford say $5 then I think there would be less and less teens out there on the streets chosing gangs to be there families away from there family.

Wow that is certainly pretty frightening isnt it. These youngsters are so full of anger and hatred I dont understand why they want to kill each other, and go around brandishing weapons its such a waste of youth. I am so glad that I am not a teenager in todays world, I have a 16 year old but he is pretty level headed and is not interested in being in a gang or carrying a weapon, although sadly the majority of his friends do carry knives and I feel it is only a matter of time before we see something bad happen in my area. At the moment it is relatively safe. I want to move from the area I live in because there is not much here for my children but when I think of what things could happen if I were to move to a bigger city I sometimes think that until they are grown it may well be best to stay put, because at least as far as children are concerned the crime rate for my area is pretty low.
